Pregnant again 5 weeks miscarriage?

Hi All,

This is my first post and looking for some advice from others who had similar situations

We unfortunately had a MC in November at 5+5 or 6+2 (there was very light bleeding at first then it stopped and then very light bleeding at 6+2 for 4 days)
Due to the light bleed the EP team were unsure if I was miscarrying or not but the blood tests confirmed my Hcg had dropped. I then had a scan and pregnancy test 3 weeks later which both showed negative.

About a week after the miscarriage we DTD a few times and were not thinking about conceiving and now 4/5 weeks after the miscarriage I have pregnancy symptoms again, nausea, tingly breasts, tiredness and the pinching feeling I had before.

I know these could also be AF symptoms but I have never had nausea or breast sensitivity with AF before. I did a test on saturday which was negative but it was just a cheap one.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, how long did you wait to test?

hi @RapunzelKL really sorry to hear about your MC:( its such a crap time isnt it when it happens. hope u r doing ok.
so weirdly i had one period in between MMC and getting pregnant (only 5 weeks so still super early days), but before the period i had exactly the same symptpms i had when pregnant - really weird cramps and nausea, id never had these pre AF ever in my life, so did wonder then if was pregnant. however, no - AF showed up! this is why this month was convinced AF coming again as had exactly the same symptoms. I figure perhaps the miscarriage had just thrown things awry a bit and stuff still settling down.
AF came about 5 weeks after miscarriage, so if your cycle got back to normal quite quick then totally possible then if you DTD around when you ovulated then could be pregnant... but would be early to ovulate after miscarriage if you DTD a week or so after?! no idea on timings, but i'd prob take another test tomorrow and then maybe again at weekend if no AF ?
Good luck either way x

*sorry that makes no sense that i said "weirdly i had one period in between MMC and getting pregnant" there is nothing weird about that!meant the symptoms were weird for me!

Hi Leftitlate37

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I hope things work out for you this time!

Thank you, I think it is probably just AF coming but it's so hard not to wonder isnt it. I never normally have any symptoms other than the cramping and mood swings but I know pregnancy hormones can change everything!

We DTD quite a lot in the last 4 weeksBlush so it could have been around the time I ovulated but I dont know the the ovulation date.

I think I'll do as you suggest, test tomorrow and then another one as long as I can wait :)

Either way I guess it's good news that either I'm pregnant or we can start trying again soon.

Sorry you're going through this :(
I had similar last year at about the same gestation and 4 weeks after I stopped bleeding I have a positive test abd he's now 11 months old so it is possible if your cycle got back to normal quickly. 🤞🏻 for you!

Pika93 · 05/01/2021 21:45

Sorry to hear you going through this, if it gives you any hope we miscarried 30th October 2020 and conceived again on the 19th November, without any period

Hoppinggreen · 05/01/2021 21:49

Sorry for your loss
I had a mmc at 12 weeks and got pg 1 week later, had no idea it was even possible
My period obviously hadn’t returned so I was basically pg for a year!
It was a worrying time but that baby just turned 16 (DD)and I have a huge 12 year old DS too!
Good luck x

Hi All,

Thank you so much for your kind words and comments. It really helps speaking to people going through the same thing.

Congratulations Pika! I hope all goes well for you!

First time mummy and HoppingGreen it is so lovely to hear such positive stories! Thank you.

I decided I would do a test today and I got the faintest line. As my test on saturday was completely clear and definitely negative I'm feeling like this might be an early new pregnancy.

The test is only a really cheap batch of tests so i wondered if i should buy a clear blue or early response and test again this weekend?

What's the best way to try and date how many weeks?

I was wondering how things went with your results after your faint positive test?
