Hello,

So this is first month ttc and I’m a bit confused.
I have usually 34 day cycles so assumed ovulation around cd19 however I thought I’d test today to see what it was like and it looks like this. I understand this isn’t a positive but I only came off a couple days ago??

Help!! Thank you xx

You’re right it’s not positive but I assume people’s LH levels do vary in the cycle or if you’ve come off the pill. It’s the peak (a positive) that signals that you are about to ovulate

JB14C · 05/01/2021 13:15

@Chica1990 I haven’t been on the pill for a couple years. Or any time of hormone contraception. I just thought that was quite dark for the time of the month or is it all about the peak that matters? X thanks

Yes all about the peak! One cycle I had 2 peaks... After researching it the first was an attempted and failed early ovulation! So even if you get what looks like a positive (dtd just in case) keep testing in case you get another one at the normal expected time!

JB14C · 05/01/2021 13:28

@MsChatterbox ah okay that’s interesting, yeah I e just done another test and that’s not as dark? Could it be I tested to early. Wasn’t my morning wee but it was second wee of the day Grin

Could also be that your wee was more diluted? Make sure you test after 10am as well!

JB14C · 05/01/2021 15:55

@MsChatterbox was about 10:30 when I did that test so maybe to early. Yes I will do one later this evening and see how that looks! Who knew it was this bloody difficult Smile

It does seem complicated at first but it all soon becomes clear! I think the latest you should take it is about 8pm and you should try to hold pee and reduce liquid intake for a couple hours before. You basically want a dark pee for a good sample! When you do notice it getting closer to positive take 2 or 3 in one day in case your peak comes and goes super quickly!

MsChatterbox · 05/01/2021 16:49

Also there's an app called premon you should download. It just saves a picture of your test strips so you can compare to the previous day easily. It gives you a little graph too with your data!

@JB14C hi! I actually started off with ClearBlue advanced OPKS and have to say they're very good. They show low high and peak fertility. I got high and we BD until it went back to low about 3 days lasted. It didn't show peak but I think I might have just missed the peak. If they're in your price range defo get them. I got the Bluetooth one yesterday which stores the fertility on a calendar on my phone.

In regards to the one you have, if it shows even a faint line BD for the next few days! What harm anyway! Smile

JB14C · 05/01/2021 19:00

@MsChatterbox hey, yes I actually have it downloaded but haven’t done anything with it yet! I will log it now. I’ve done another test and it’s the same darkness as this morning Grin not sure! Just seems bizarre on a 34 day cycle. Thank you so much for the help! Smile

@Rmd123 I will have a look at the clear blue ones now, a lot of people have spoke about these: trying to look at this month as a bit of a test to understand my body! Yeah I’ve said every other day to my partner, isn’t going to know what’s hit him Grin haha!!
