Hi,

Can i ask how long after getting the contraceptive implant out you got your period and fell pregnant.

Period came quickly. Out in August and found out I was pregnant end of March.

Fluffygreyjumper · 29/12/2020 09:06

Period came after 7 weeks, currently on 2nd cycle ttc

hotchoco · 29/12/2020 09:53

Were your periods like your regular ones? I have not had one for 3 years.

I had been on contraception for 12 years so barely remembered what a normal period was like!
They are quite short, last about 3 days, not too heavy though cramps worse than they were with implant.
After my first proper period they have been pretty regular, last cycle was 32 days

Mine were about 5-7 days and 'normal' not too heavy but not light either... if that makes sense!!

I've had implant in for about 4 years and don't want more children now. Before starting a family I had the implant but had it took out about 18 months before we started trying. This was about 15 years ago but I don't recall my periods taking long to return to normal. It did take us 13 months to fall pregnant (this was after the 18 months break in using hormonal contraception, actually, I think it might have been 14 months as DH agreed to try earlier than planned)

I had an implant for 10 years. Periods were very heavy throughout. Had implant out at the end if November, period early December and positive result in January.
Twas a bit of a shock that it all happened so quickly.

Not pregnant yet.. but had the implant in for 9 years and never had a period. Had it removed on 12th Nov, got my period two weeks later, then again last week. So I'm now I can start working out my cycles

The nurse said to wait 6 months for periods to regulate and then try, did anyone do this?

@hotchoco nope the midwife who took out my implant at sexual health clinic advised to take pre conception tablets for a month before trying. Technically you could get pregnant if you have sex the same day as getting implant removed.

Update: Just got my BFP!

Got implant out 31st August, first period 28th October, BFP after 2 proper cycles.
