TTC after missed miscarriage month 5

Hi all

Just looking for some reassurance really and hoping you ladies can help with that.

Both DH and myself are 35.

We started ttc July 2019 and it took 9 months to get our BFP. In August we were devastated to find out at our 12 week scan that the baby didn't have a heart beat, and that the heart had stopped only a week before. Due to COVID my husband wasn't allowed to be with me for the scan when I found out the news, and also wasn't allowed to be with me for the surgical management. The whole experience was devastating. About 3 weeks after the procedure I ended up having heavy bleeding and passed tissue. I called the early pregnancy unit and I had to go in to the hospital for a scan - turned out I had 'retained products' which were not picked up in the surgery...it was heartbreaking.

We've been ttc ever since and still no luck, but my periods returned to a reliable pattern. I'm trying to do everything by the book, and back in October started acupuncture. Doctors have said that we have to wait until Feb before they will start doing any tests...

I've given in to some wine over Christmas - it was needed!Wine

Currently in the 2ww and would really appreciate to read some good news stories from people who went through something similar and went on to get their BFP 🌈

Thank you xx

...anyone?

TTCROYGBIV · 28/12/2020 14:12

Similar situation here. Tried for 10 months, had 4 chemicals. Finally got a sticky one and ended in a mmc at 11+2.

Had the tablets, then 2 lots of surgery to remove retained tissue. AF then went absent for 18 weeks, had a 15 day cycle, then a 22 day cycle and now in TWW hoping for a miracle! Like you I had to do it all alone in the hospital. It’s crushing.

I’ve passed my due date which was just before Christmas and thinking 2021 has to be more positive. I still have my bad days, Christmas was hard without my baby but the positive days are now outweighing the down days. Xx

Thank you so much for responding. I'm so sorry that you've gone through so much - and with COVID making it that even harder.

I'm keeping everything crossed that you get your BFP this time Smile

How are you feeling about trying again?

TTCROYGBIV · 28/12/2020 20:05

I feel okay. I would’ve felt better if I’d been pregnant before my due date but my miscarriage treatment didn’t end until end July and then AF went AWOL but it is what it is.

My husbands best friend has just had a baby and his wife was 2 weeks behind me. I think that hurt a lot.

It takes its time for you to feel better mentally.

How are you feeling? X

So sorry to hear what you have been through @bassets85. I had a MMC in April, due to covid my only option was to wait and miscarry naturally despite baby not getting past 6 weeks and MMC confirmed at 10.

I'm now 25 weeks with my rainbow, there used to be a pretty active thread on ttc after a mmc but think its gone quiet now and a lot of us have graduated to a pregnancy after mmc thread!

@bassets85 and @TTCROYGBIV - so sorry to hear of your losses and what you had to go through with covid also.
I had a MMC this month, we went for a scan and there was no heartbeat. I'm currently waiting for my first cycle after the MC but not sure when that will be and I have read alot that cycles can be affected and be later etc.
@Workingmama1 I love to hear stories like yours they give me hope for the future. Congratulations on your rainbow.

@TTCROYGBIV oh I'm sorry, it's really hard when someone close to you announces a pregnancy or has a baby. It will be our turn soon! I'm having a tough cycle this month, I was told that I'd be more fertile in the 3 months after MMA and it obviously didn't work for me in that time was trying to mentally get past that.

@Workingmama1 thank you so much for sharing your story - I love reading positive rainbow stories, it gives me some hope x

@NatJ24 I'm so sorry for your loss too - it's so hard, but I find places like this really helpful for reassurance and support :)
