Post Christmas TTC?

Anyone else get the present of AF today? I had the coil removed in November, followed by what must have been a withdrawal bleed. We DTD on the 'fertile days' on the app but wondered if I even ovulated. This stuff is all new to me and aside from taking folic acid and reducing alcohol I am not changing much so far. I am 27 and DP is 29 and we are ttc #1. I am such a stressball and so impatient I feel like if this takes a long time, which it is likely to, I am going to really struggle.

Anyone else got AF today or expecting AF? Would be nice to talk to some people in the same boat. And hopefully have some new years BFPs!

I finished AF yesterday so kind of similar! I had my implant removed start of December so ready to really try this month Grin

TTCnum1 · 25/12/2020 20:42

I had the coil out in September and have been tracking cycles but using condoms as wanted to get cycles back to normal. My average cycle length since coil removal has been 26 days and AF was due Christmas eve however still waiting! We weren't TTC this month and have used protection so not really sure what's going on! We said that after Dec AF which was supposed to arrive on Christmas eve we would start TTC so will see what happens and hopefully AF arrives in the next few days and we can start TTC in the next two weeks!

BrightonR · 27/12/2020 11:52

Are you both trying for #1? Are you going to be using anything like OKPs? I want to be relaxed about it but also want to maximise my chances!

bravotango · 27/12/2020 11:57

I could have written your post! We've agreed to do a few more cycles and then if no joy start with the OPKs and temping. DH has said he doesn't want us to put too much pressure on ourselves meanwhile I'm symptom spotting like crazy

Amijustagrump · 27/12/2020 12:43

I wont be this month! Although I'm already symptom spotting and tracking everything on flow. It will be number 1 however I fell pregnant a few years ago (with same DP) and had a termination- really worried that was my only chance! Sad

TTCnum1 · 27/12/2020 12:45

Yep trying for #1! I've been taking vitamin D and folic acid since Sept and have been trying to track ovulation just to get an idea of cycles. Promised I'd be chilled but probably won't be! Still waiting for AF to arrive this month so can start trying

2021ComeAtMe · 27/12/2020 20:41

Please can I join you all?

DH and I had an unexpected discussion tonight and agreed that I'm coming off my pill Grin I only have one left to take later and that's me done (I actually have an appointment on Thursday to get more so I'll have to ring and cancel that.)

This will be DC2 for me, so I'm happy to be here for any questions anyone might have.

BrightonR · 28/12/2020 00:36

@2021ComeAtMe how old is DC1? How long did it take you to conceive first time?

@bravotango how long have you been trying for?

@TTCnum1 at least you were period free over Christmas. I hope AF comes in the next few days.

I am just waiting for AF to go away. I don't know my cycle length or anything yet so I am worried I will miss my fertile window. A late September baby would be perfect...

2021ComeAtMe · 28/12/2020 08:28

@BrightonR DC1 is 2 and a half Smile this will be our last (I have an older DSC too - so new baby would make 3 DC!)

It took us 6 weeks to conceive DC1. I was slightly healthier than I am now - I weighed a stone less and was a little fitter, although I'd been on the pill for 10 years and was expecting it to take longer. So, as hard as it'll be with all the Christmas treats still in the house, starting from today I'll be attempting to cut back and be a little healthier. We agreed that a Nov/Dec baby would be ideal as DH has a few things going on at the back end of the year, so here we gooo...

I feel nervous about it this morning!

Rose2108 · 28/12/2020 08:43

I feel you! She arrive yesterday for me... A few days early too! So at least I know I can get drunk on NYE !

We've been ttc our first for 6 months. I feel like I've only just figured my cycle out in the last few months though, I started temping and using clear blue ovulation prediction things. My husband works shifts so it was hard for us to just have sex a million times like people suggest! But hopefully we are nearly there...

It's so hard not to stress! I must admit though the longer it has gone on, the more relaxed I feel. I think because I understand my body and conception etc alot more now; you'll naturally just learn stuff each month I think. Hope it happens soon for you! X

BettyRem · 02/01/2021 15:58

@BrightonR I got AF on the 24th too hated having her over Xmas but glad she's done with so we can start ttc #1!!
I'm the same with the impatient thing - just trying to chill and enjoy it but I've found myself on here reading everything 😂
@Amijustagrump so exciting to actually say you're actually trying isn't it

Love seeing everyone's stories 💖

BettyRem · 02/01/2021 16:01

@TTCnum1 did AF arrive yet?

BrightonR · 02/01/2021 20:27

@BettyRem I am so concious about not getting stressed about it that I am getting really stressed about it.

I know it is early days and it takes a while generally to get pregnant. I think we are going to start DTD every other day to cover our bases. I am CD8 I think.

How is everyone else getting on?

I'm impatiently waiting for AF to finish, hoping by Wednesday we can start baby dancing Grin

WhatTiggersDoBest · 02/01/2021 22:53

Hi can I join please? I'm TTC DC2 (DC1 is 16 months old) and AF finished about 5 days ago so we're going for it this week too.

shannonb94x · 02/01/2021 22:54

Hey guys thought I’d join in! AF finished on the 30th & trying (failing) to take a super relaxed approach & I’ll be honest I have NO CLUE where to start or what changes to make, any vitamins to take the lot Grin I’m 26 & DH is just about to turn 29! Here’s to 2021 Smile

LucyFox1987 · 02/01/2021 23:06

Hey guys thought I would join too, we are trying to conceive our first, I had the implant taken out on the 30th of November and started doing OPK got a peak fertility 4 days ago DTD a few times so now it’s just wait and see Smile

BrightonR · 02/01/2021 23:07

The more the merrier!

@shannonb94x It is an absolute minefield isn't it? I can see myself spending a lot of money on lots of things that I am hoping I won't need. I am just taking folic acid and using the conception lube. I didn't realise that normal lube can prevent pregnancy! My friend has given me a long list of other stuff I could use. Hoping it doesn't come to that.

Summerbubba · 02/01/2021 23:38

Hi guys thought I would join in too. We are trying for number 2 (number 1 was a July baby hence the name). Last time conceived days after having the implant out. This time had it removed in October and nothing so far which is making me a bit nervous. No changes in weight/general health for either of us. I’m 31 now (29 when I conceived last time). Same DH etc. Was I just lucky last time and this is normal or something else????

jessi60 · 03/01/2021 01:29

Hey,

I had the implant, had it removed on the 23rd September as we were thinking of TTC but weren’t 100% so I started taking the pill the following day. However this only lasted 12 days as I had horrendous side effects so just decided to stop taking it and see what happened. I had a withdrawal bleed 5 days later. I then had my period 28 days exactly after the withdrawal bleed. In that time I was obsessed with doing opks (I did find them useful) I also used the pre mom app which I found really good to scan in your opks and it gives you a reading and helps work out your fertile window. The next month after my period was finished I was poorly with food poisoning so didn’t do dtd as much as I would of liked to. I was doing opks and got a slightly higher result but not a peak so tried to dtd in the fertile window the app predicted off the high reading. Then I was ill so stopped doing the opks testing and resumed once I was better and got an actual peak reading, I can only assume my body tried to ovulate and failed because I wasn’t well and then tried again. We only managed to dtd once since that peak reading after being unwell. So I was honestly counting myself out to being pregnant. The days came and went and I was up to cd 39 with no show of period. I assumed my body was just affected by having my implant removed as it can take six months plus to get back to normal and that the period I had after 28 days was just some good luck. I did a couple of pregnancy tests just because I had them and they were negative.
And then I had one left and thought I’ll do it to get rid of it 😂 and it was bloody positive!

So it can happen quickly although I know I’m extremely lucky! I was on some form of hormonal contraception for ten years aswell and I never had periods whilst on contraception so I had no idea what my cycles were even like. I was taking the pregnacare pre conception vitamins. No idea if these helped though.
But I would recommend opk testing and using the pre mom app. But it does start to consume you so try and relax about it if you can. Send you lots of baby dust ✨🤞🏼 Xxx

Amijustagrump · 04/01/2021 22:38

How is everyone doing?? Currently about 8dpo and feeling rough with sore boobs, cramps and backache- feeling semi optimistic!

shannonl26 · 04/01/2021 23:12

@Amijustagrump got my fingers & toes crossed for you!! in all honesty I’m still getting to grips with it all, anybody have any suggestions as to what apps I could download? I’ve been using flo, but then downloaded Ovia & they were calculating 2 completely different suspected ovulation dates Grin it’s all a guessing game this month, the joys Grin

Amijustagrump · 04/01/2021 23:37

I've used flo and thats it so far! I've also read up on the signs of ovulation so I guessed when it was. I caved and used OPKs but I think I started too late- i ovulate really early apparently Grin fingers crossed for you!

BrightonR · 05/01/2021 20:48

Nice to see some new faces on this thread. I feel like this one is slightly less overwhelming than some of the other ones haha. I can keep up.

I have been using conception lube. My boobs feel bigger... But don't hurt. Not sure if this is a sign of being fertile. We have started DTD every other day, but started a few days after my period. The app thinks I ovulate on the 9th. I just had a hot bath though and am now worried I have ruined my chances. Overthinking much?!

How is everyone else getting on? Fingers crossed for some BFPs!

OP posts:
shannonl26 · 05/01/2021 21:25

@BrightonR it’s so hard not to overthink everything isn’t it! Times are hard enough at the moment, we are allowed to worry Grin

According to ‘flo’ I’m currently in my fertile window, suspected ovulation date 13th but it is my very first month so who knows what could happen! I’ve never really paid attention to my cycles so it’s all so confusing.

Fingers crossed to all x
