It’s that time again, the 6th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few.

Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@Kay00 @Juno231 what the situ with Evening primrose oil? I don’t think I have enough EWCM, around ovulation I get a general wet feeling down there but I don’t think I actually get that much EWCM just a few blobs on the run up to ovulation

Mol234 · 07/01/2021 15:56

@Juno231 haha well I do go to the gym but I’m not an athlete by any means. It’s one of the reasons the doc has checked my thyroid as they’re linked (fingers crossed no issues but they seem to be quite common post pill!)

@abi555 definitely just keep testing! You will find your peak but I guess it’s annoying not knowing when to expect it whilst your cycle settles. I know what you mean about chatting, I actually get excited about taking my bbt as I love that it tells me what’s going on with my body haha

@Robyn101 pleeeease test at 11DPO haha I can’t wait til 14DPO either!

firsttimemummy321 · 07/01/2021 15:59

@Juno231 that's really interesting I've never thought about tracking rhr 🤞🏻 for you!! Aw thank you 💕 me too but whatever it is isn't looking promising just want to know why now 🙈 thank you so much! 🤞🏻 this is similar to what happened when we conceived our first my first cycle was a CP 🤦🏻‍♀️

@ChinChilly thank you I'll have a look :)

@Robyn101 I'm not sure how long but🤞🏻

@Flowers222 thank you, I'm so sorry you went through that 🤞🏻 for this cycle! We had a chemical when trying for our first and conceived him the next cycle so 🤞🏻 for you!

Hi @Delilah221 I've just joined as well! Good luck!! I found that when I stopped my pill after being on it for over 10 years to conceive our first I had a lot of symptoms and convinced myself I was pregnant but it was withdrawal from the pill. I found tracking with ovulation sticks helped me as I didn't want to get excited and spend lots on tests if I hadn't even ovulated yet. Try to enjoy the trying :)

@abi555 that's exciting but yeah moving can be super stressful and especially after you've been going through it for so long!

ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 16:07

@firsttimemummy321 I think I had a CP in November, I refused to test early so I can’t say for sure but im 99% it was pretty tough, as you know, so hoping this one sticks for you 🤞🏼

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 16:13

@ChinChilly - Yes well worth waiting to say to the GP 'Yes i've waited 3 months!' They're so dismissive!

@Juno231 - It's bad isn't it! Just want to sit and relax with a glass (bottle) of wine!! Thanks - will check that cleanser out. I've always avoided anything on my face as i have such sensitive skin. I've fortunately always had good skin, but never wore make up or put anything on my face so was a shock to feel how bad my skins got!

@firsttimemummy321 - Ah welcome! It's exciting but also mentally draining at times! Trying to relax with it. Are those sticks the ones from amazon? The OPK ones? Sorry not heard of them before!

ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 16:16

@Delilah221 my doctor literally said a fertility doctor would treat the thyroid but they wouldn’t as primary care so come back when it’s been 12 months of trying 🙄 I wish we could afford to go private, I’m not knocking the NHS at all, but it can be really difficult with GPs at times

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 16:22

@ChinChilly - It's horrible isn't it the way they can make you feel so belittled! I know what you mean, they're amazing but sometimes it's hard to deal with them.

I was actually born with Gastrochisis, so i've been in and out of hospital numerous times, it never gets any easier dealing with the GP's :(

It's horrible to have to wait 12 months for treatment.

I was sent to the GP by my personal trainer a while back, (It was a treat for myself for a month of sessions, didn't end well haha) But i ended up having blood tests and fortunately my thyroid was ok, but i really really struggle to loose weight which doesn't help. I went back about a year later and was refered to a dietician but never got any appointment through as Covid then began!

ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 16:30

@Delilah221 yeah she did make me feel abit like that, I felt like it was a totally pointless phone call. I’ve been lucky really I’ve never ended up in hospital for more than an xray...hope I haven’t just jinxed myself 😂

Juno231 · 07/01/2021 16:33

@ChinChilly I take 2000mg from CD1 through to ovulation day and ever since I started doing that I get a lot of EWCM. If I have a rummage around there's plenty during FW and then during my most fertile days there's no need to rummage lol - it's all over when I wipe or ruins my knickers! No TMI here right haha?

@Delilah221 and you don't have pcos right? From what I gather it can be really tough losing weight with pcos. The pic firsttimemummy attached were of her pregnancy tests this week.

Sat here with a decaf coffee waiting for 5pm to hit so I don't have to pretend to work (I've done NOTHING this week, can't motivate myself at all, hate my job atm) and head out to get my steps in :)

OP posts:
ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 16:38

@Juno231 nope no TMI around here 😂😂 I literally get a blob or 2 and that could be left over jizz lets be honest 😂 so I’m on CD3 do you think I could start taking it from tomorrow if i can get my hands on some?

Juno231 · 07/01/2021 16:47

@ChinChilly yeah definitely! As long as you don't take it in the LP you can start whenever.

OP posts:
Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 16:47

@Juno231 - No, not that I am aware of. Although starting to worry i may potentially have it. As another symptom is delayed/all over the place cycles, which i won't know about until i get some normality back to my cycles :(

Again, will give it a few months and then attempt to see a GP if nothing by then.

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 16:48

@Juno231@ChinChilly glad there's no limit on TMI here too! :)

Also had EWCM this week, which is why i thought i was ovulating! But then woke up to have more brown discharge again :(

NibbleQueen · 07/01/2021 17:16

Halloo, this is my first time here

I am planning to come off mini-pill in 2 weeks. I've been on it for about 10 years. I'm 32 and a healthy weight with no health issues. My periods when I had them weren't too heavy or too light, I think the cycle was a bit over 30 days but reasonably regular. I had a copper coil briefly a few years ago but had cramping and spotting so went back onto pill.

I just wanted to ask if there's anyone in a similar situation to me and when I could expect period/fertility/pregnancy?? Some websites say women will get pg after 6 months of coming off the pill, some say 1 month! What do you ladies reckon the true average for someone like me?

I'm finding a lot of the technical detail on this thread a little overwhelming. It is great you guys are so up on the details and I wish luck to every one of you, you seem like a lovely and supportive bunch. Xx

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 17:29

@NibbleQueen - Best of luck with it all! This thread is super helpful and everyone is really lovely.

Not too sure in terms of what will happen/when as I'm here to ask about that too!

Just wanted to add - when you come off the pill, as I'm sure you will read, be ready for some crazy post pill symptoms! :(

It's good that you're in good health! Best of luck with it all xx

MissC07 · 07/01/2021 17:34

@abi555 good luck with all the house stuff! 14 months in such a long time! You clearly have the patience of a Saint!!

@ChinChilly welcome to the BBT club! I started this week too, I actually get excited about taking mine and looking at my chart. How sad am I 😂

@Juno231 I know what you mean re hating your job. Mine is SO boring, I'm obviously very grateful to even have a job at the moment, but also thankful not to be in the office. I'm clinging on as they have a really good mat leave package (which I know might never happen and is a stupid reason to stay in a job!) At least I can watch netflix at home I guess!

@Robyn101 Excited for you to test 🤞

@Delilah221 Welcome! 👋

I'm currently CD7, not much happening except a few lines on my OPK's. I'm also now taking folic acid, vit d, vit c and unbiquinol and have convinced my DP take take WellMan conception - I might start buying shares in Holland & Barrett 😂

ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 18:06

@Juno231 may try get some tomorrow! May be a daft question but why not in the LP?

@Delilah221 do you use ovulation test at all? They may help give you a indication of what’s going on.

@NibbleQueen Hi 🙋🏼‍♀️ I stopped taking the pill in June, my periods have been prettu regular but still no BFP! I think it entirely depends on how long it takes you body to get back into the swing of things, some women do get thier BFP in the first month (not jealous at all 😂) you’ll get used to the technical shiz on the threads.

@MissC07 please may I join that sad club who is excited to take my BBT in the morning 😂

Rmd123 · 07/01/2021 18:07

@MissC07 Hi! So I started BBT this morning CD2. It was 36.5 Celsius. So should I expect a drop during ovulation and then for it to raise again after? This is my first time!

firsttimemummy321 · 07/01/2021 19:06

@ChinChilly really sorry to hear that you had one it's horrible even if early :(

@Delilah221 thank you :) I know I try not to obsess but it's so hard! Yes they are I have the one step ones I think they're Amazon and eBay :)

@NibbleQueen welcome :) everyone is different and can take time even without your body readjusting to coming off contraception so don't give yourself a hard time if it doesn't happen straight away, on the flip side it is possible as well :) I was very lucky when trying for my first I was on the combined pill for over 10 years and had my first period after 6 weeks of dropping and got a positive the next cycle, unfortunately that was a chemical pregnancy but we were super lucky and conceived our little boy the next cycle 🤞🏻 for you

@MissC07 are the lines building towards ovulation? Good luck!! I remember when trying for our first starting to think if I jumped I'd rattle 🙈

I spoke with the dr this afternoon who basically said a line is a line they would consider me pregnant no matter how faint but to check again in a week and if it's still the same they will look into it :( just another 7 days of guessing 😫 pretty sure if it is positive it can't be viable so just want to bleed now so we can move on and not be in limbo 😞

Rmd123 · 07/01/2021 19:36

@Juno231 hi! Sorry for interrupting, I saw you said you take 2000mg, do u mind me asking of what? I'm taking folic acid at the minute is there anything else I can take? I also dunno the meaning for FW , is it first week? Sorry I'm new to all the lingo 😂 Thanks!

ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 19:54

@firsttimemummy321 I’m hopeing your lines get stronger and you’ve got a sticky one!

Juno231 · 07/01/2021 19:54

@Rmd123 folic acid is the only thing you need to be taking everything else is optional for us crazies 😂. The 2000mg is of evening primrose oil which works really well if you don't seem to produce enough EWCM (egg white cervical mucus in case anyone doesn't know the acronym). Other easy yet good things to take is omega 3 for the dha most of us don't get enough of in our food. That's just for general egg health. There's about a million other things for specific problems like short LP, ageing eggs etc but we can cross that bridge if you have any concerns!

@ChinChilly not silly at all! EPO causes mild contractions (internal, you'd never feel it!) and is therefore thought to interfere with implantation. From memory I think some women even put EPO up the foof when their due date is near to bring contractions on?

@NibbleQueen welcome! Don't worry about the technicalities - ask anything you'd like but I'm sure 90% of them aren't necessary anyway 😉. It's pot luck what happens to you post pill to be honest - you can be lucky and conceive without even having your first AF or end like me on cycle 13 😅. Let's hope you're the former!

OP posts:
ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 20:04

@Juno231 Wow, ok makes sense! Learn something new everyday! Going to try get my hands on some tomorrow..if we’re not snowed in 🙄

Cams50 · 07/01/2021 20:46

@abi555 I’m completely the same with the wedding situation. Hope the house stuff gets settled soon! So stressful x

I’m CD17 but still no ovulation even though I got a peak OPK CD15 last cycle. No regular periods post pill month 9 sigh. I’m also like a rattle with the amount of different supplements I’m taking. They’re probably doing more harm than good at this stage 😂

MissC07 · 07/01/2021 21:36

@ChinChilly haha yes please join the club 😂 I'm sure I'll get bored and forget after a few months, but right now I'm enjoying it!

@Rmd123 As I've only been temping for 5 days I'm definitely no expert but some of the other ladies will be able to help you. I think the jist is a drop at ovulation and then a rise afterwards but there's no confirmed rule I think...

@firsttimemummy321 I hope so but I doubt it! I'm logging them on the Premom app and they are all 'low' but showing light lines so I'm hoping that's something. I hope your lines start getting stronger!!

@NibbleQueen Welcome! I'm also 32, 33 this year. Stopped the pill mid November, had a withdrawal bleed 5 days later then waited 40 days for my first AF which was really light! It can take a while for your body to settle down post pill. Try not to google too much (easier said than done) you'll get some v similar pregnancy symptoms when you stop. Good luck with your journey!
