It’s that time again, the 6th post-pill thread of ladies who are experiencing the highs and lows (mainly the lows…) of coming off the pill and TTC! Here you’ll find stories of delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs, to name a few.

Join us, won’t you? We're a lovely bunch and we'd love to help you make sense of post-pill life if we can!

@ChinChilly ah how exciting! Can't wait to see your charts

@Mol234 5DPO is too early to mean anything, remember that! You're not even in your implantation window yet :) As a whole, RHR tends to be higher in the LP than the FP, much like your body temp. I find it more reliable than BBT for showing me AF is due though, as it tends to start dropping 10DPO onwards pretty much. If it stays the same or increases then it can be a good sign of a BFP :)

I'll attach my RHR from this cycle cause it's been super textbook - i.e. it was high in my LP and you'll see it plummeting due to AF. It hit rock bottom for me the day before my ovulation and has been rising ever since. It's different from person to person though, if you're super fit I imagine you'd have more of a plateau/less fluctuation than this.

RHR at 3DPO, ovulation on CD16.

Lol and note the peak towards the end of my plummet is my alcohol consumption from NYE!

@firsttimemummy321 Ah yes those are faint lines on all of them! I'm sorry if it's another CP, I really hope it isn't. Fingers crossed for you. On the bright side (please don't kick me for saying this) but you must be super fertile to catch your first cycle off the pill! Hopefully that means that if this isn't a sticky bean you'll have one pronto xx

@Mol234 photos didnt upload 🙄 but yeah here is one of my cycles O day was on the 18th.

@firsttimemummy321 it’s from amazon I think it links up to the premom app!

@Juno231 I’m looking forward to seeing my charts 😬 I’ve already stuck it my mouth just to check it was working ofcourse 😂

@Mol234 I don’t really know! I’m trying not to read into anything so don’t really know when to do a proper test I’m going to try and stick it out for the full TWW. I’m predicted a period next Thursday so let’s see where I am (I’m
Gunna do it tomorrow arent I 😂)

Serious question though if it is implantation bleeding is there an optimum time before it will show on a test?

Flowers222 · 07/01/2021 14:16

@Robyn101 I really hope it is a good sign for you and it is implantation bleeding 🤞

@ChinChilly exciting that you will be temping! it is so useful to know what is going on.

@firsttimemummy321 welcome! Sorry you are in limbo at the moment. I had faint lines for about 5 days last cycle before they went negative and I started bleeding, it turned out to be a chemical. The worst part was not knowing what was happening. I'm sorry if you are having a chemical but I really do hope it isn't!

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 14:31

Hi All,

Happy new year to you all! :) I am very new to this, and I am currently TTC baby No1. Took my last pill 4 weeks ago today!

I've been on hormonal contraception since i was 16, started on depo injection then onto the mini pill. I was on Carelle for years, then was prescribed Cerazette. After 2 weeks on that pill i cannot begin to describe how awful it made me feel! So decided to stop it all together.

We was wanting to start TTC in March this year, but after the horrid carezzette experience i stopped all together and quite glad i did!

I just wanted to join and speak to you all, as i sometimes feel like i'm just going crazy with all these sympotms!

So since coming off 4 weeks ago, I've had brown spotting (sorry TMI) and cramps here and there. And now I'm having odd days of cramps/spotting and then nothing. I can't keep up! I now have all of a sudden developed incredibly dry skin and dry scalp. Not sure if this is normal?!
I also had every pregnancy symptom under the sun about 2 weeks after stopping and got very excited, only to then realise that it's very common when coming off the pill!

Sorry for the long story! Just wanted some advice, and somewhere to talk about this stuff as none of my friends or family know we're TTC as we want to keep it private. So i can only speak to my OH which isn't too helpful as he has no idea about this stuff! (Neither do I TBH)

Anyway, thanks ladies! Any help/Advice/Support will be much appreciated !!

Mol234 · 07/01/2021 14:44

@Juno231 @ChinChilly thanks both for sharing! Maybe I’m over thinking it, it’s not a huge change over the past 5 days, just slight. Weirdly my RHR doesn’t seem to have changed massively over the past month despite now being in my LP, however temp has risen massively! No idea what this means, will just see how the next week goes. I track mine on my iwatch, chart attached.

@Robyn101 I don’t know re testing tbh..! I reckon I would wait until 10DPO but I guess the later you test the more reliable. I think some people on this thread have tested at 9DPO and got BFPs though!!

@Delilah221 sorry about your bad experience! I was the same as you, I had loads of pregnancy symptoms but it was just my body regulating after the pill. I’d recommend starting to track your BBT and ovulation with OPKs. Hopefully things will start to settle down for you really soon!

Post Pill TTC - Rave on
ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 14:45

@Flowers222 yeah I know alot of people say too much tracking can make it stressful but I honestly think not knowing what was going on would drive me mad even more!

@Delilah221 Hi, you’re in the right place!! I had some brown spotting after cerazette on and off cramping until my first real period, I remeber thinking I was pregnant as I had every symptom going! Not sure about the dry skin but lots of us have had post pill acne!
My closet friend knows we are TTC, which is helpful as she took 12 months to get a BFP post cerazette. My mom has sniffed it out and just came out and asked me which I couldn’t lie she hasn’t really asked much though I think she gets the pressure and we are really close so she knows I’ll bring it up if I want to talk about it, my OH doesn’t really get it all he just nods his head 😂

ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 14:50

@Mol234 I wish my RHR was that low 😂😂 I think as @Juno231 said you may not see much of a difference for another few days probably after implantation I would guess?

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 14:53

@Mol234 - I think i'll give that a go. I've also downloaded an app called clue, to start attempting to track any sort of cycle. I don't really recall any periods/symptoms/cycles from before i went onto the pill so have nothing to compare too really.

@ChinChilly - Aww thank you! It feels like such a relief finding this site! Glad to hear that the brown spotting is normal. My worst thing is googling everything which is not good! :(
We recently got engaged so thankfully everyone is distracted by that news so we're able to keep the TTC under wraps for now haha.

I'm just so confused with it all! I'm also quite overweight, so trying to focus on eating healthy and stoping the drinking! (I gained over a stone last year over lockdown food/drink binges!) So worrying that my weight is effecting it too. Just trying to be patient.. easier said than done!

How are you all getting on?

abi555 · 07/01/2021 14:59

Sorry for AWOL, v stressy at the mo as (hopefully!!) exchanging contracts on new house in next few days. My nerves are on overload, why do houses have to be so mega stressful in the UK?? We had our offer accepted 14 months ago now and it's been a rollercoaster ever since (thanks covid!)

Also, feeling you @Robyn101 and @Cams50 We got married in August - had to cancel all our big wedding plans and got married with just our immediate families (which I was sad about at the time not to see our friends, and now realise how lucky we were even to have our families there!) We moved all our big wedding plans to May and now looks like will have to cancel those again too - which means stressed about the money. I loved our micro-wedding in the end, and would be happy just to have that but we have paid all our deposits and would literally be throwing thousands of pounds away to just cancel the big reception. Arrrrgh. All such a mess. We have insurance, but they find any way to sneak out of paying!

Not a lot going on for me. Have had first AF since pill (yay!) and now waiting for FW. OPK's all stark white however, so I'm a bit at a loss as to when to expect it. Trying to time DTD but not sure when, and OH doesn't have the highest sex drive so trying to avoid pressuring him! Hoping if I just keep testing OPK's I'll catch something soon...

@Delilah221 welcome! All sounds normal to me. Lots of the ladies here have had intermittent cramping and spotting while waiting for first AF. I also experienced v dry skin and shed loads of hair loss when stopping pill.

@robyn101 - I think it'll be several days before you can test. Fingers crossed for you though, eeek exciting!

@ChinChilly welcome to the temping club! I very quickly became addicted to temps as it's so nice to watch your body making a chart and knowing it's doing something! I may just be weird though...

All of you are making me feel so guilty with your NY health kicks! Need to get my butt in gear and lose some weight!

ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 15:03

@Delilah221 I was abit horrified when I saw the brown spotting, I remember getting it occasionally on the pill if I missed one or two. I mainly use premom for tracking as you can scan in your ovulation test results, I’ve also just downloads fertility friend for BBT. Im also overweight according to the NHS! I’m about 1-1 1/2 overwieght so trying to focus on healthy eating and lots of walking..too lazy to run 😂

ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 15:07

@abi555 I think I will become addicted, Im obsessed with RHR so this will go down well! Yup house buying is super stressful, everything seems to move so slow! We brought with no chain of a family member and it was still a nightmare!

Sperr · 07/01/2021 15:08

@Juno231 he’s going pretty well so I’m impressed so far. He’s an all or nothing guy. He’s not worked out for months and now he’s doing this!

I’m trying to be cool (obviously I’m not being cool and I’ve been checking my RHR like a maniac since noticing 😂) but AF is due tomorrow and it’s actually gone up today! With Apple I’ve still got a few hours I reckon until it makes it’s mind up about a definite number but maybe 🤔 - i think tomorrow will be the real tell but last month I didn’t have a chance to get my hopes up so I missed out on the day dreaming of how I would reveal it to OH

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 15:11

@abi555 - Oh gosh hope all goes well with contracts, what a horribly stressful time trying to move, especially in covid times! We are currently in the process of buying our next home and it's so long winded and stressful! Hope all goes well and you complete soon!

@ChinChilly - Ahh i'm so glad it's not just me! I was really worried and googled it and got some very scary answers as well as some normal ones so it's very confusing! According to the NHS i'm obese!! I'm not naive to the fact that I'm carrying a lot of extra fat.. but i do feel the BMI charts are a load of Balls!! And Ditto - I am not up for running, just seeing people run makes my body ache haha. Just focusing on stoping the drinking and eating more healthy!!

ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 15:18

@Delilah221 all seems normal to me but obviously if you’re worried drop your doctor a call, peace of mind an all! Yeah I think BMI charts are aload of s**t I think mine shows up at 26-27 I lost a stone before Christmas which by some miracle I’ve managed to keep off over Christmas. It’s definitely do-able through just eating better aslong as your in a calorie deficit. I used to be such a gym head but the thought of the gym sends a shiver down my spine 😂

@Sperr that’s all sounds good! Hopeing for a BFP for you!

Juno231 · 07/01/2021 15:24

@Delilah221 welcome! I don't think i had dry skin but I had terribly greasy skin and post pill acne instead lol. I also lost a lot of hair. It's nuts all the things it does to you isn't it! I've also gained weight during the past year so am on a bit of a health kick atm.

@Mol234 haha I think you fall under that category I mentioned of fit ladies whose RHR doesn't move much! 52 bloody hell, that's like athlete level!

@sperr oh that sounds promising, I'm rooting for you!

OP posts:
Juno231 · 07/01/2021 15:26

@Robyn101 oh and if implantation was indeed to be today, you could maybe see a line on 10DPO? Def by 11DPO I think

OP posts:
Robyn101 · 07/01/2021 15:31

@abi555 completely that. We just don’t have the money to walk away from the thousands tied up in various deposits and suppliers so just got to hold our breath and wait

Righto so I’m gunna leave it till 14th if I can I’ve only got cheapy tests anyway as I’ve not planned that far ahead 😂 just planned for a period so best to give it enough time that it would show on them just incase - still trying to remain realistic and not symptom spot too much

Robyn101 · 07/01/2021 15:32

@Juno231 haha you’re a bad influence I was like nope 14th then saw your message think we cross posted and now I’m like oooo I could do it this weekend 😂

Delilah221 · 07/01/2021 15:32

@ChinChilly - I feel much more at ease now about it! Also trying to give it at least 3 months as i feel that's all they will tell me if i go GP any time before then. Ah that's impressive managing to keep it off! I just look at a mince pie and gain weight!! So frustrating lol.

@Juno231 - Thank you for the welcome! I actually developed really greasy skin so ended up washing my face with shower gel last minute in the shower so now my skins gone really dry! :( Good luck with the health kick. I said to my OH today that even getting through 1 week without a glass of wine or a take away is a huge step for me! haha.

ChinChilly · 07/01/2021 15:40

@Robyn101 I agree 11dpo you should get a result, plus I can’t wait until the 14th sorry 😂😂

@Delilah221 could be a good shout waiting to see the GP they can be so dismissive at the best of times, my TSH levels are high for TTC but normally under the NHS guidelines so I was completely fobbed off! Not sure how I’ve kept it off my eating habits have been pretty bad recently 🙄

Kay00 · 07/01/2021 15:46

@firsttimemummy321 well, I can certainly see lines on all of them, but they are very faint. Do you know (roughly) how many days past ovulation you are?

@Juno231 I ovulate completely randomly, my last cycle it was on CD24 (and I am currently on CD24) but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. My CM is watery/creamy but my cervix feels high and soft again. My OPK from midday was just 13%. Ovulation probably hasn't happened but here I am again... deciding whether to take EOP or eat pineapple Grin haha!!

Juno231 · 07/01/2021 15:48

@Delilah221 omg tell me about it, I'm on day 7 of dry january and I feel like the most hard done by person on the planet. Haven't had a take away since mid Dec I don't think and we normally have one once a week. Maybe a foaming cleanser from cerave could help you with the greasiness and spots? It seems to help me a bit.

@Robyn101 I'm with chinchilly - I can't wait until the 14th. Then again I live vicariously on your BFPs and have given up on my own lol.

Speaking of acne, last cycle I didn't really have any! Had maybe 2 spots whereas the cycle before I looked like I was imitating a pepperoni pizza. Fingers crossed that this is my new normal and not another exception.
