Ovulation Sticks confusion!!

Hi!

I used a purple advanced clear blue ovulation monitor two days ago and got the peak smiley. The day before this I got a negative. So I went straight from negative to smiley.

I did the pink normal clear blue ovulation test the same day as the purple one (when it showed peak) and it came up negative. I have done the pink one the last two days too and still saying negative. So are the cheap strips I bought.

I’m so confused! Please help!

Hi Graced05111991,

We're sorry this is causing such confusion for you - we're no experts in fertility so we'd always recommned seeking real life professional help.

I used cheap strips. Tested at 2pm and 10pm... Always caught my positive! Tested from days 10-14..

@Graced05111991 hello! Thought I’d message as I had this exactly with the CB digital earlier this week, zero one day to static smiley the next. Thought I’d ovulated but kept on testing during the week with Femometer OPKs and then that surged four days later. It’s all a bit new to me only second month tracking, but I can see the progression on the OPK sticks and it ties in with BBT so I’m assuming the CB digital was incorrect. It did the same in the last cycle, no flashy smileys, just straight to Static ... so we’ll see?!

Try not to worry. I had this last month and had a meltdown (I am a drama queen!) and couldn't find much online about it.

From what I now understand, my body must had attempted to release an egg early triggering the LH surge but this didn't rupture properly, hence another LH surge when this eventually happened a few days later.

This was my cycle from CB Connected so from blank (grey) to peak (dark purple) and then you'll see I had another peak. This was the cycle that caused me the most stress and ironically, you'll see a few weeks later, was the cycle we conceived ❤️

Thank you everyone! I actually tested yesterday on my advanced one and got flashy face so I did it this morning too and got a peak smiley again! I also got my lh surge smiley on the normal pink ovulation clearblue test too and also dark lines on my cheap sticks so they all corresponded. @Twinkle1989 is it bad if I tried to ovulate Monday and didn’t? But I am now?

@biiirdy85 If I was you I would keep testing as I got my positive on all 3 tests today, 5 days later. Weird!

Thanks @Graced05111991 I think that’s the best way to make sure we don’t miss it!
I managed to catch it again by carrying on testing. I’ve read a bit more and understand it a bit more. It’s put me off the digital OPKs as after the static smiley you can’t keep testing for 48 hours and aren’t meant to keep doing so for the cycle if that’s correct?! I might keep to the OPK sticks as you can really see the progression and especially if I have multiple surges.
I’ve been tracking BBT which then confirms when you’ve ovulated when you see your temp rise in the days after. X

Thanks for the advice and many congratulations @Twinkle1989 !

Elouera · 12/12/2020 23:14

I gave up with urine based OPK's year ago. Despite the fact that I do ovulate, I'd never get a positive on one and they ended up costing a fortune!

I use a saliva, reusable OPK. Mine is called 'maybe baby', but there are other brands available online. Its like a tiny microscope, and the various patterns your saliva makes when dry, indicates whether you are ovulating.

Twinkle1989 · 13/12/2020 06:39

@Graced05111991 I don't think it's bad and it's certainly not uncommon. I guess most of the time we would never know but with OPK it's all under the spot light! It certainly did me no harm as it was the cycle we conceived on ❤️

@biiirdy85 thank you so much xxx

@Elouera thank you I’ll look these up :)

@Twinkle1989 thank you. Just got my smiley face again today and high on my cheap strips. Fingers crossed this is the month for us! Congrats to you xx

Some good advice here! I dont have any advice but just wanted to say good luck OP!
I'm in a similar boat this cycle, went straight to peak yesterday morning with no flashing. I have been temping and no rise yet, so not sure what's happening, but reassuring to read a previous posters success! :)

Graced05111991 · 13/12/2020 11:29

@mrsrichy keep testing everyday! I tested even after I got my peak on my purple advanced one and few days later got my flashy then peak. I think it was inaccurate the first time.

@graced05111991 how frustrating hey! Yes I will do, I couldnt use the CB one this morning as the static smiley is still there. But I used a cheap strip test, and the test line looks to be as strong as the control... hopefully I'll be able to use the CB one tomorrow as I find the strip ones quite hard to read/understand!
