Progesterone - can anyone help?

DH and I are on cycle 12 of ttc no. 2. Conceiving no. 1 was very straightforward and we are both now in late 30s so we are concerned something is up.

DH has been referred for semen analysis and is waiting for an appointment.

I have had one cd21 progesterone test and spoke to the Gp about this today. She said that ‘between 10 and 30 is okay but should probably be checked again’ and that I was 22. Of course, I didn’t ask 22 ‘what’ and now having had a quick google I’m more confused than ever about what that means.

They can’t fit me in for a repeat blood test until January now. Obviously with COVID things are necessarily moving more slowly but I’m worried there are things we could be doing or should be looking into but we don’t even know what they are.

I using OPKs and always get a positive result around the time I would expect ovulation to be. I have regular cycles and no diagnosed health problems. We are both exercising more, eating well, we’ve basically stopped drinking (a couple of drinks a month), we don’t smoke and we’re dtd regularly.

Does anyone know how to interpret the progesterone numbers? Is there anything else I should be asking the gp about?

Thank you!

Sorry you are having such a tricky time conceiving OP. I well remember the frustration.

Not sure if it is different when having fertility treatment, but in the early days of taking clomid I remember the consultants advising that ovulation wasn’t likely to have occured unless progresterone was above 20, and ideally above 25, so I would be querying the lower parameters your gp has suggested. But at 22 and a period coming regularly it sounds likely that you are ovulating.

Slightly intrusive question but how often are you having sex throughout the cycle?

@Puddlelane123 - thanks for your reply.
We have tried various frequencies, as it were! But every other day, sometimes every day running up to and during fertile window and a little after. This month we dtd on cd8, 10, 12, 13, 14 and intended to do 16 but it didn’t quite happen... I had a positive opk on day 12.
