Conception and COVID vaccine

Putting here as conception thread. I'm currently trying to conceive. As part of my Job I will be getting offered the new COVID vaccine however your not allowed to get it if your planning on getting pregnant within the next 3 months after getting it. Not sure why.

Anyone else in this predicament. I mean you can't predict if you will get pregnant soon or months down the line.

It has been playing on my mind today, not sure how I feel about it either way at the minute though! I work with Covid patients approx. 3 days a week. TTC again after this cycle ends, so could potentially be TTC for the next 6 months+ and so having the vaccine in the new year wouldn't be an issue! The TTC journey is such an unknown path that it's really up the each individual and their relative risk I think?

It’s purely down to as there’s no research but tbh I don’t think there ever will be. Ethically it’s not something they could do, they would have to recruit a group of women child bearing age give them the vaccine and get them to TTC for a year and see how they get on and see if one group struggles and then prove it was down to the vaccine.
A lot of drugs are the same, even amoxicillin a really common antibiotic says they don’t know the effects on fertility but people don’t question this. X

Pretty standard to not recommend meds for pregnant women as the effects are unknown. Saying that I won't risk it. I've been trying for a year but sod's law I'll conceive when it's the least convenient lol so it's bound to happen if I take the vaccine.

I've been thinking about this as well as I'm expecting to have it through work. It's weighing up whether to have the vaccine and pause TTC for a couple of months. I'm really keen to have the vaccine. There's the potential long term effects of Covid to consider if I didn't get the vaccine and caught it. Then for me there's the emotional aspect, we've been trying for 6+ months and I'm over 35.... If I didn't have it now then I'd need to wait until after pregnancy and they don't recommend it whilst breast feeding so it could then be a long time before accessing the vaccine (and helping towards keeping me, my partner, family, friends etc safe). It's a tough call and I might have caught this month anyway which would take any decision making out of my hands.....
I appreciate that I'm really lucky, because of where I work that I have earlier access to the vaccine than others.
