Can't commit to TTC - anyone care to look at my 'plan'?!

Ds is 9 months old. I always just thought I would have 1 dc, and even that took 12 years of marriage to get around to trying for... In fact, I didn't even want any kids until I hit around about 29.
Anyway, we hummed and haa'd for ages to get pregnant with ds1, not trying too hard and changing my mind fairly often. So, in essence ds1 wasn't unplanned but was also a bit of a surprise iyswim.
But now I think I would quite like another one, but really don't want to commit to TTC. So I don't want to come off the pill yet - cycle is really irregular anyway, anything from 9 - 30 days...
So, while I am rambling on I WILL get to the point. I have kind of 'forgotten' my pill quite often this month. I was intending on just being a bit slack with taking my pill and if anything happens it happens, and if it doesn't it doesnt.
So, any flaws in my plan?

You probably won't get pregnant. Why don't you just wait until you are ready?

What does your DP think? Does he know that you aren't using the pill properly? If so then that is a major flaw.

If your DP wants another child and it is only you who is unsure then that is a bit better. But I don't really understand where you are coming from. If you would "quite like another one" then stop using contraception. You do not have to chart your ovulation dates etc but at least you would be giving it a real chance. The chances are you will not conceive while on the pill, even if you miss a few, might that end up disappointing you?

I would also check that there is no chance that the pill would hurt the feotus if you conceived but did not realise it because the pill caused you to continue having periods (on the face of it that does not sound healthy).

dh is up for another child, it is just me having trouble committing to it - my pregnancy and birth were horrendous, and I am scared to get pg again in case I repeat the performance.

But an accident would be fine.

What are the risks to the foetus of taking the pill while (not realising you are) pg?

Why risk it?

Are you taking your folic acid in case you get pregnant 'by accident'?

I think I heard that if you are taking the pill and you are pregnant with a girl, then it's ok, but if you are pregnant with a boy then all those female hormones can have a bad effect...but I'm not an expert.
