2 weeks late but bfn. What could be going on?

Tomorrow my period will be two weeks overdue. I’ve taken three tests, all of which I took well after my period was due, and all were negative. I used Clearblue tests. My cycle has occasionally been up to 35 days long, though normally 28, but I have never gone this long without a period.

I’m TTC my second. It took several years to conceive my 3.5 year old, but mostly that was due to my husband’s low libido and for some of that time he was working away. He then was adamant he didn’t want a second but has recently been more accepting of the idea so this month we dtd a few times, including once on day 27.

Is it possible that I ovulated late and that, while conception has occurred and has stopped my period, my hormone levels aren’t high enough yet for a bfp? Or if I’m not pregnant, what is likely to be up with me?

For full disclosure I’m 39 and quite overweight but have never missed a period before. My mum was late 50s before she started the menopause so I thought I would be the same but I suppose this could be the start? Or what else could cause a missed period? Nothing particularly stressful is going on in my life so I don’t think it’s stress. Thank you.

Hey, have you ever been diagnosed with pcos? As that may be causing irregular periods and possibly not ovulating. I have pcos so if you have any questions let me know ☺️

Other than that I’m not sure, might be worth checking with your gp, maybe it’s your thyroid or something? Xx

No, never had any problems with periods other than them being quite painful when I was younger.

I did a Thriva blood test a few weeks ago because when I was pregnant I was told I was Vitamin D deficient so wanted to see if I still am. It tested iron and thyroid as well and they were fine. My vitamin D was a bit low so I have started taking a multi vit but really don’t think that would have stopped my periods.

Hmmm. Do you have any pcos symptoms? Have you recently gained or lost weight?

Not sure, maybe might be best to ask your gp xxx

Probably just an anovulatory cycle. We all get them sometimes but the amount it might throw out your cycle varies.

If you ovulate late, af will be late by the same number of days. Even if unusual for you, it's not at all unusual for this to happen every once in awhile.

Gps mostly won't be interested until you've missed a second or even third af, just because it's not at all unusual.

You'd also get a positive test later if you ovulate late.
