I just got a bfp on day 30 after testing negative a few days ago. Did three tests and all positive but faint.. is this a bad sign? I remember with my son I tested on day 26 and got a very clear line... now worried! can anyone reassure me, or otherwise? thanks!

Don't think it makes any difference at all. A line is a line...
Congratulations!

lissiethevampireslayer · 21/10/2007 15:33

hi, which brand did you use?

its also possible that you ov'd later in your cycle which would mean that the HCG isnt as strong.

but a line is a line.
congratulations!

Gemzooks · 21/10/2007 16:18

thanks! Yeah, not sure when I ov because only had one period since stopping breastfeeding, so could have been 7 Oct when I got pg, (my DS first birthday!), that would make it just 2 weeks today.. anyway will try not to worry because I know there's not much you can do except wait for the first scan and 12 weeks!

if y6ou are worried then test again in 2/3d.

beautifuldays · 21/10/2007 16:28

a line is a line
when i teasted with my ds the line was so faint you had to hold it up to the light to see it! he is now 3.5
congratulations xxx

noooomoooorescarynames · 21/10/2007 16:33

the line will get stronger with more hcg - as lissie says try again in a day or two and you'll have a stronger line. Also if you wee is more diluted (after drinking lots) your line won't be as strong. Test first thing in the morning (less diluted wee) and the line might be stronger then too. BUT a line is a line - it only shows if there's hcg and there's only hcg with a pg

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 21/10/2007 16:43

Its not a sign of anything except preganancy beinge arly and hcg levels still low- the noisy stressy little monkey throwing his lego upstairs (at his Dad) is perfect evidence of that!

And the 17 weker currently neccesitating spending on maternity clothes started as a negative result LOL

spugs · 21/10/2007 17:14

mine was very faint with this pregnancy and i was worried as with my last 2 they had been very strong, and id just had an mc. turned out i was 4 days less then i thought and was only 3 weeks 5 days when i got my bfp. it was all fine and im now 18 weeks

Gemzooks · 27/10/2007 16:56

hi all,

thanks for your replies. I'm now on day 37 of cycle, still very faint line, is this normal? I'm worried that the fact the line has not got any darker yet is a sign that the pregnancy is not normal, what do you ladies think?

OP posts:
Rowlers · 27/10/2007 17:02

My line was incredibly faint. You could barely see it.
But if there is any line at all, it's positive.
I wouldn't worry about it being faint at all.

Gemzooks · 27/10/2007 17:08

thanks, Rowlers... I'm just worried because it was very faint on the day my period was due, now it's a week later, still no period, and still the same very faint line, and I would have thought that with a healthy pregnancy it would get darker... what do you think?

OP posts:
Rowlers · 27/10/2007 17:11

You've had a positive and no period a week later = you are pregnant lady! Stop worrying and relax.
My line was v v v faint but I am now 3 days overdue. Had a healthy, relatively problem-free pregnacy so far.
Enjoy the moment before the sickness kicks in!

gomez · 27/10/2007 17:12

The tests aren't designed to measure levels of HCG per se but only if it is present or not. A line means there is HCG, which you only have a detectable levels when your PG.

As you said before there is nothing you can do at this point even if there was something wrong, relax and enjoy being pregnant. You will soon be feeling crap and throwing up I am sure.

Take care.

CONGRATS
I had a very very faint line with dd2. Shoved it in my pocket and showed everyone who was intersted (Is this a positive????) Doctor then told me "A line is a line no matter how much you have to strain to focus"

Gemzooks · 28/10/2007 15:39

hi all,

bit of a sad follow up, started bleeding pretty heavily today, so looks like the game's up. On the other hand, I had the same heavy bleed when 5 weeks preg with my DS who is now 1, but this is really crampy and painful, so def. think that's that.. Oh well, wasn't really trying anyway but still a bit

hope to join soon with another BFP I suppose!

Gemzooks - I'm really sorry to hear this. Your experience sounds similar to mine. I had a really faint line for a week and then started bleeding. I think I had a chemical pregancy, where there egg is fertilised (hence the HCG) but doesn't implant.

Please take care of yourself, hope you feel better soon and look forward to reading about a BFP in the near future.

gomez · 29/10/2007 22:11

Ah Gem I am sorry. Take care.

lomondgore · 29/10/2007 22:14

Sorry to hear that
