Flashing digital opk during miscarriage?

Hi all,

I started miscarrying 4 days ago (it was a very early pregnancy - under 5 weeks). It's been ok, not painful apart from the first couple of days. Yesterday I had a twinge, and I had some CB digital opks left so I thought I'd do a test - it was negative. I thought that as we don't want to wait to try again, I might as well carry on testing so that we could start trying ASAP.

Anyway, today I got a flashing smiley (high fertility). The thing is, I'm still bleeding - is it possible to ovulate when you're having a miscarriage? If so, is it a bad idea to have sex (can it cause an infection or anything)?

I would have just presumed that it was leftover hcg, but it was negative yesterday.

Any ideas? Thank you!

Hi there - No you shouldn't have sex when miscarrying as it can cause an infection.
The flashing smiley suggests you are using the dual hormone OPKs in which case it is reacting to estrogen levels not the LH surge you get before ovulating. They are designed to compare against the last test you took on your last cycle - your hormones will be out of whack a bit so I wouldn't waste any more tests by carrying on testing
