Yes - my childminder did. It does not really count as a method of contraception, more like russian roulette conception. I suppose it's too late for morning after pill?

mower · 20/10/2007 19:50

Yes bit late for morning after pill. Wouldn't be a disaster though, just hate not knowing. Will do a test tomorrow if I haven't come on.

read this on here a while ago:

what do you call people who use the withdrawal method?

parents

!!

i think that says it all ...

if you are a fertile couple it can easily fail... you might be late becasue you are worried, or beacuse you are pregant

did you have sex around ovulation time?

even before ejaculation, some of those little sperms can leak out and head egg-wards...

LongMeg · 20/10/2007 19:51

You know the old joke?

Q: What do you call a couple who use the withdrawal method?

A: Parents.

It is not a reliable method of contraception at all.

LongMeg · 20/10/2007 19:51

X posts, Lulumama!

stripeymama · 20/10/2007 19:52

Yes me! But more due to lack of self-control on ex's part.
Its not AS unreliable as people think - IF done properly. Man must not have ejaculated within previous 12hours to ensure no sperm are lurking around to get into pre-ejaculation fluid. But would not recommend it as main method when there are alternatives.

MaureenMLove · 20/10/2007 19:52

I guess I must have done. We certainly weren't using precautions and dd was a lovely suprise!

Lulumama · 20/10/2007 19:55

just seen it is not a disaster if you are pregnant... test tomorrow then!

mower · 20/10/2007 19:55

Yes was two weeks ago, so guess this is the time of ovulation.

Been worried about it and was feeling a bit sick so I did a test on Tuesday, one of those ones that you can do four days before your period. This said negative, so chances are I'm not, but wish I would come on so I know, can't stop thinking about it!!

Must get contraception sorted out as can't go through this each month!

Somewhere lurking in the back of my brain is an article I read about it... seem to remember that IF used in conjunction with rhythm method all done properly with timings and temps etc, it can be quite reliable.
I wouldn't trust it though, unless like you say, it wouldn't be a disaster.
And yes, I do know people who got pg this way.

LongMeg · 20/10/2007 20:01

Mower, don't rule out pregnancy on the say-so of one of those early pregnancy test kits - they are only about 50% accurate when used before your period is due.

Test again tomorrow, the result will be more reliable now than it was on Tuesday.

worzsel · 20/10/2007 22:39

I got pregnant using this 'method' and how have a daugter who's nearly 3 ! I dont think it's reliability depends on how fertile you are either, we've been trying for 16 months for number 2 with no luck atall so i am obviously not !

Hope you get what you want

juliewoolie · 20/10/2007 22:52

Yeap now have my fantastic DS

foxensteinscreature · 20/10/2007 22:54

Nope but you need to keep a eye on your cycle - I wouldn't recommend relying on wthdrawal if you are ovulating, as traces of semen can get in. Should be OK for the rest of the time though

expatinscotland · 20/10/2007 23:00

Been using it for 4 years now when we blow off the diaphragm, which is often enough, with no problems.

We're not a very fertile couple, however.

It does work for some people!

NomDeBroomstick · 20/10/2007 23:03

Snap expat.

Have used it since DD was born over 5 years ago, no subsequent 'accidents'. DH and I are not mega-fertile together (only took 4mo to catch with DD, mind).

gnu · 20/10/2007 23:03

I was conceived in this manner.

expatinscotland · 20/10/2007 23:09

I'm 36, my periods are very regular, but pretty light and short, so I do wonder if I am ovulating at all.

Not had any bother at all with this method.

spugs · 21/10/2007 17:22

my friends sister used this method sucsessfully for 2 years. then fell pregnant with id twins
