Going to invest in this this month, and had a couple of questions -

What cycle day should I start? I think I O'd day 21 last cycle but not 100%, and still sorting cycle out after getting implant out

Do you have to do FMU? My issue is I wake up at least once a night to go to the loo. If I wake at 5, does that mean I do it then and go back to bed? I'd rather do every day after work but don't want to skew results.

How often do you DTD when smile starts flashing?
Thanks

Hi! I've also purchased this this month for the first time so be interested to know others opinions! I tend to have a short-ish cycle (other than last month) I did it a day earlier than the guidelines suggested just in case, as I've tracked with OPKs and BBT in October and it came back I ovulated on CD9!

Birchtree4 · 30/11/2020 12:27

Hi @hjen22 oh thats good to know, thanks! When do they recommend you start? I havent bought mine yet so not seen instructions x

Hi @Birchtree4

I started testing using clearblue for the 1st time this month. There's a little chart inside the box which tells you what day to start testing depending on the average length of your cycle.

You are supposed to use FMU so I would say yes to 5 AM testing as your urine will be more concentrated.

I am planning to DTD everyday from when I see the flashing smiley, the more chances the better!

Good luck Smile

Birchtree4 · 30/11/2020 12:35

Thanks @hufflypuf I will just do that then! Gets the POAS out of the way for the day anyway haha. Good luck to you too x

@Birchtree4 Ah sorry I hadn't realised you hadn't bought yet! I will take a pic of the instructions for you! It was much simpler to use than the cheap OPKs I've used and had multiple different results back from! Find it hard to know which result to go with, the average normally! It's like weighing yourself, go with the lowest result haha but with OPKs the highest / average but may have meant I have getting wrong readings! X

HJen22 · 30/11/2020 12:51

This is the one I have, and the little chart inside x

@Birchtree4 your welcome! Tip for you, I just did my second day and it came back with an error so I have to do it again. I had collected my pee but then threw it away so I'm now having to hold in for the next 4 hours to retest. So might be a good idea keeping FMU until you know the test has worked! I'm going to be bursting come 11am 🙈 the things we do 😂😂

Birchtree4 · 01/12/2020 08:45

Oh no @hjen22 what a nightmare!! It is unreal the things we do youre right- but will be worth it x

OP posts:
HJen22 · 01/12/2020 08:48

@Birchtree4 when I read the instructions and it said retest after 4 hours but drink normally; I'm thinking how is that even possible. So annoyed I threw away my pee 😂 but stumbling about with a cup of pee and getting the stick when first awake isn't the easiest of tasks haha! Will for sure be worth it, I really hope these help this month! I've got a new app I'm using too, Ovia which I quite like! X

sunnyflower7162 · 01/12/2020 13:27

Hi, I don't know if this will help but I've only started using the CB digital this month and I tested once in the morning and at night and I got my peak result at night. The box does say to not urinate 4 hours before testing as someone stated but I'd just say whatever's best for you.

Wishing you all the best.

Newstart20 · 01/12/2020 13:40

I started on CD 8 which was one day earlier than the leaflet said as I have short cycles. I'm now getting flashing smiley's on CD11 so might start testing a bit later next month.

I'd definitely use FMU if you can just to be sure of the results.

HJen22 · 01/12/2020 15:32

Yeah I'm a bit worried I started too early! And two of the sticks didn't work / I did it wrong today so I ended up using 3. Fertile week should start tomorrow but I'm not so sure after a longer than normal cycle last month 🤷🏻‍♀️ hoping I don't have to buy another pack and get the static smiley before I run out! How often will you DTD now you have the flashing smiley if you don't mind me asking? X

LobsterRavioli · 01/12/2020 15:35

Got pregnant with this first time, now 14 weeks x

stressfullday · 01/12/2020 16:00

I did not find the digital ovulation tests accurate at all. This was in 2016, hopefully they have improved since then.

HJen22 · 01/12/2020 16:01

@LobsterRavioli amazing! Any tips? And massive congratulations 🥰 xx

Newstart20 · 01/12/2020 19:14

@HJen22 I am thinking DTD today and tomorrow, then it depends on what the sticks say. If they stay flashing we'll skip a day, if they change to indicate ovulation we'll do Thursday too. We'll probably do Saturday and/or Sunday too to make sure we're covered.

I've already used loads of them! It's our first month ttc so I want to make sure we cover my fertile week as much as possible.

LobsterRavioli · 01/12/2020 20:05

I got a solid smiley on the 10th, and had sex on the 10th and 11th.

I started using the ovulation tests as soon as my period finished as I wanted to see what "normal" was like.

I didn't get my BFP until 29th September so... circa 16/17 days dpo xx

Good luck everyone WineGrin

@Newstart20 sounds like a good plan! Right now we're DTD every 2nd day, mine is still low but I'm hoping we can do it a couple more times than that over fertile week when it changes to flashing! Fingers crossed it's flashing soon! I only bought a 10 pack so was annoyed I had to use three today! Now I know what I'm doing though, I'd not put the stick into the wee machine before I dipped! A lot to think about first thing in the morning 😂 x

Birchtree4 · 05/12/2020 15:09

Congrats @lobsterravioli! You said you used it as soon as period finished. I am thinking of doing the same (even though my last cycle was 32 days). If you can remember, How many "blank" smilies did you get before it started flashing? I am a bit worried that if I start too early the results will be skewed and it'll start flashing early...

OP posts:
Birchtree4 · 05/12/2020 15:13

@hjen22 how are you getting on? Any flashing yet?x

OP posts:
Newstart20 · 05/12/2020 17:22

I'm now on CD 15 and still on flashing smileys! I thought my cycle was quite short so I should have ovulated by now, I'm hoping it'll change tomorrow.

Birchtree4 · 05/12/2020 17:29

@newstart20 I havent used mine yet but have done a lot of reading. Some people find they get a solid smile if they test a second time in the evening (after 4 hour bladder hold) - thats my plan when I get a flasher! Maybe consider that?

surreymum89 · 05/12/2020 17:51

I used the clearblue ovulation on fourth month with my last pregnancy and after a few hit and months trying with this new pregnancy and got pregnant first month I used it both times!

In fact this time around we on dtd on the two flashing smiley faces and never got the opportunity from the day of the static smiley onwards , last pregnancy we also did a couple of days before and the day of the static smiley.

Good luck!
