Dodgy first response tests from Amazon ??

Hi everyone,

I'm a day late for my period so I ordered some pregnancy tests on Amazon (first response rapid results ) and the box was normal but inside the tests look suspicious. There's no first response logo and no writing where I think it would normally have the pregnant / not pregnant indicator. I'm a new user so it won't let me upload a picture- maybe I'll be able to later.

I was wondering if any MN users who use these tests regularly could tell if they were dodgy or if anyone else had a similar experience?

Tbh this ttc stuff is kicking me in the arse I'm so down with it all and when I was finally late without my usual pre AF spotting I had such high hopes. The test was negative and I guess I'm just clutching at straws that I still could be pregnant and that it was just a bad test.

Hi, I got ones from amazon recently. I am also new to them so don't know whether it's legit - here's a pic - is yours like that?

I just googled and every pic seems to have the pregnanr/not pregnant thing- think we may have been mugged off!

Just a quick note - the early response are better than the rapid response. I haven't bought tests off of Amazon so can't help with that I'm afraid

ivfbeenbusy · 28/11/2020 10:47

@Pollyell

That isn't a first response - that looks like an Answer One Step - they are apparently made in the same factory as first response and are the cheaper unbranded sister brand

Thanks @ivfbeenbusy, it was advertised as first reaponse and was in a first response box! Supermarket/boots for me from now on!

I brought these before and was fuming when i opened the box. You can request a refund on Amazon and they give you your money back straight away (they don't ask for the box back). Always make sure you get the 6days early first response as thats more sensitive than the rapid response.

Pollyell · 28/11/2020 11:14

Thanks @thickthighssavelives will be doing that

ivfbeenbusy · 28/11/2020 11:18

I'd check when you buy them if they are coming from Amazon or an Amazon third party seller. Always best to get from Amazon itself

Yes this is it exactly! I think I'll head to boots today and get the early response ones at least I'll know they are from a real retailer.

I do ovulate late- around CD 18/19 and usually have a 28/29 day cycle so it could be that I'm testing too early so I'll try the early response ones and if that's a negative too I can't at least stop obsessing over it
