Hi all this is my first month using opks I start using them on CD 9 and I'm currently on CD 16 and still not had a dark line they have all been very faint. I don't know how long my cycles are as this is my first one since coming off the pill. Does anyone have any advice? I've got it in to my head that it's just not going to happen.

I also have irregular periods. Unfortunately you just need to have a large stock of strips and keep doing them, preferably same time every day and with at least 2 hours bladder hold. It will happen!

If I am understanding correctly this is your 1st month off the pill? If so, I would be aware that there is a chance that you might not ovulate this month and that is why you are not getting your +ve OPK. It might take a couple of cycles for it to get out of your system and for you to ovulate. Either that or you may ovulate late or have missed it on the OPK? Fingers crossed you get your +ve soon!

Thank you both. I came off the pill mid/end Sept n only had little bits of spotting now n again but didn't have a period until 11th Nov that lasted 6 days.
Do you have to have a full bladder for over 2 hours coz maybe I'm going wrong there. Anyway we have Ben dtd every other day since af finished so if I have missed it hopefully I've had it covered 🤞

I have read that it is best to test after 12pm as you normally have a surge in the morning and then it takes a few hours to build in your system. Best not to drink too much and yes try to hold your pee for a few hours. When my lines start getting darker, for me about CD12/13 I start testing 2 times a day so that I don't miss my peak (about 1pm and 7pm) xx

Ah I think I've been doing it all wrong I should of really looked it to it a lit more before starting. I've been doing mine around about 11am n by that time I've usually had a couple of cups of tea n been to the toilet a few times. Never mind always next month I suppose. I'm on cd17 today.

Those are very close to a positive, if it were me I'd try again tonight after another bladder hold, and start testing twice a day till you get a positive. The test line needs to be darker than control line for it to be a positive. Good luck!

Jj130816 · 27/11/2020 18:36

Thank you I will do that. So do you not think I've missed it this month? I'm on cd17 now.

If they've all been faint before then I doubt you've missed it. Do you check your CM (cervical mucous) at all?

Jj130816 · 27/11/2020 19:28

They have all been faint before some I could hardly see. Yeah I've had some ewcm today I had a bit yesterday aswell.
