Average time TTC for those carefully tracking?

I read that the average time TTC is 6 months and that you only have a 20% chance each month. But I always wonder if those odds are really true for couples who are carefully tracking BBT, using OPKs, know for sure they are ovulating every cycle, and are timing intercourse or whether that is just an average including all infertile couples as well as those who aren't carefully tracking and timing.

Anyone have any data on the time to pregnancy for only those actively tracking/timing?

Not sure about data but I do know that general advice is not to track too closely because aiming for a specific window can be counterproductive - even with testing kits etc you can miss ovulation, and it can cause stress which is a conception killer. Advice is generally to have sex every 2/3 days throughout the month to maximise your chances.

I carefully tracked with temping and tests ... took 2.5 years for DC1 and 6 months for DC2 so seems pretty accurate for me lol

The length of time to conceive is always the same as a length of string

I track and am on cycle 12 😅.

From what I remember - the 20-30% stat is if you time it perfectly anyway, so it factors in timing already.

SMEP quotes around a 30% chance. So I think even under the ideal conditions (which is basically what SMEP is) you're only looking around 30%.

It may be frustrating but TTC just can't be controlled or 'perfected'. As another PP it takes as long as a piece of string. Luck plays a huge part, all we can do is put the right parts in the right place at the right time.

*sorry 25% chance for SMEP
