Late period negative test

Hi,

I came off the pill 5 weeks ago and first day of last period was 22nd Oct (the period I would normally expect anyway after stopping my pills), have been having unprotected sex since then. I’m now 5 days late for my period, and I have had symptoms including headaches, sore boobs, white discharge (sorry for the info lol) and bloating.

My periods have always been clockwork, however I have been on the pill since the age of 16 pretty much continuously barring some short gaps, I’m now 28. I took a pregnancy test yesterday which was negative. Normally when I come on my period I get period pain beforehand but no sign of it. The test I took was a cheap one from Asda and I did it on a night after I’d drank a lot of water. Has anyone ever had a negative test under similar circumstances and then had a positive later? Could I be preggo or is it more likely to do with cycle changes since coming off the pill?

How do you know that your period normally comes like clockwork if you haven't had a real one since you were 16? I'm afraid your pill withdrawal bleeds don't count at all and were completely induced by chemicals 🤷‍♀️.

Essentially you had a withdrawal bleed end of October and now you're waiting for your first real period. Those arrive around two weeks after ovulation, but it's not uncommon to struggle to ovulate after coming off the pill, and therefore having long cycles as a result. There's a post pill chat here where some of the ladies had 100+ day cycles before they had a period.

I'd recommend tracking your temperature next cycle in case you're worried you're not ovulating or missing ovulation completely with your assumed fertile week.

I think your in a bit of a waiting game, some lady's are very lucky and ovulate the same month as they the stop the pill and fall preg but for most can take a couple of months to get back in a natural cycle. If you do decide to re test try with ur first wee of the morning as will be more concentrated.
