My friend has been ttc for over 2 yrs. Her and her dh and have tests, she's ovulating fine, her dh has slow swimmers apparently. Basically they are lazy and don't swim fast enough (therefore presuming they don't reach the distance?)

Anyone with any info out there??? Is there anything he can do to help them swim faster? (I know that sounds funny but ykwim)

TIA

zinc? brazil nuts? give up smoking and drinking? blokes produce new sperm all the time - takes 2-3 months from start to 'finish' so it's much easier to affect the quality of sperm than it is with eggs.

Definitely give up smoking and drinking. Dr Marilyn Glenville (Author of Natural Solutions to Infertility) says to give up caffeine (sp?) as well.

It took us 2 and a half years to conceive dd due to DH's almost stationary swimmers.

We gave up red meat, cow dairy (switched to goat's millk and cheese), had acupuncture, did yoga, dh took chinese herbs, zinc, omega 3,6 & 9, vitamin C D and B.

We got lucky the month before we were due to start IVF. DD is now nearly 3.

DG - he doesn't smoke but I'll ask about his drinking. I know he's always stressed with his job, cant this affect things? Thanks about zinc and brazil nuts - will pass that info on.

LF - what a story, well done for being sucessful the month before IVF, funny you should say that, we were talking tonight about stories of stress i.e. me relaxing this month and now BFP, others who finally get their fertility referal etc. and then fall pg etc. Will also pass the info you mentioned.

Thanks

Zinc 30mg, selinium supplement, and saw palmetto complex from the health food shop and lots of fruit and veg and giving up the couple of fags he smoked a day. boosted my dh sperm motility from 32% to 75%.

Yes drinking really does make a difference to sperm quality and speed. He should also be taking zinc.

Pumpkin seeds are full of all the necessary vitamins and nutrients for healthy sperm.
