TTC what to expect?

Hi we have decided we want to start TTC.
I have been on various pills and the injection for the last 10+ years!
Currently taking the POP.
Can I expect side effects from stopping my pill or is it generally fine?
With Christmas only 5 weeks away and my birthday 2 weeks away I don't want to feel rubbish just because I've stopped my pill.
Should I wait until after Christmas or just go for it and hope I feel fine?
Thank you!

I had no side effects at all. I was pregnant within my first cycle without contraception. Good luck!

The PP was very lucky, lots of ladies on here (including myself) have had many issues coming off the pill. It can really disrupt your hormones and it can take your body a long time to learn what to do again. My side effects were short cycles with short luteal phases. I don't mean to sound negative but want to give you an honest answer. You may be lucky and get pregnant straight away but be prepared it could take up to a year.

I had no difficulties coming off the pill after 12 years, however I definitely didn't fall pregnant quickly. Everyone is different. In case it takes a while for your cycles to settle/a while to fall pregnant, I would be tempted to say just come off the pill asap Smile

@ButterscotchBabe thank you!
I've always had problems with painful periods and bleeding whilst on the pill.
I'm 26 and husband is 30 so we are hoping we have time even if it takes a year or so to get pregnant!

Were also planning on TTC, I've just started the pill in September for suspected endometriosis and I really want to come off the pill now but I don't want to be ill over Xmas so going to come off boxing day! I've started taking folic acid and vit D x

@merlotormalbec a part of me says wait till after Christmas a few more weeks won't do any harm and the other part says what are you waiting for, go for it!
I have also started taking Vit D & folic acid
Best of luck!

I know exactly how you feel it's a tough one! I actually missed a pill on Tuesday before starting my new pack so now I've got a period and it's so painful so that's made my decision that I'm staying on it till after Xmas. I DTD on Saturday tho I hope I'm still protected! Find it all so confusing 🤦🏽‍♀️

I stopped taking the pill last June and it took months and months for my cycle to regulate - I ended up taking soy isoflavones to help and they seemed to do the trick immediately - I'm like clockwork now. But only just now in our first cycle of TTC as we were waiting for my job to be more secure, so I can't comment on if it impacted how quickly we'll conceive! I didn't find any side effects in particular of coming off the pill, apart from my periods getting a bit lighter, and I get a little back ache around ovulation time.
