Yes - I never conceived whilst using those kits even though had sex at right times etc. Stopped using them - chilled out about it all and conceived two mths later.

Good luck and enjoy the trying!!

some of the tests only mark the first day of the hormone surge - the fact that nothing happened on the second day doesn't mean you are not at your most fertile, but I think ( and others may correct me if I'm wrong) you only get 1 positive result, not a positive result for each day - the instructions should make that clear.

The LH surge really is just a surge, once you've got it you don't need to do another test as you will either ovulate the next day or the day after (after the surge not during).

If you have irregular periods then you can get a surge and still not get an egg, it happened to me - I got a positive opk and then 14 days later nothing, no bfp no period. There's also women who get PG despite never getting a postiive test because the LH surge can happen so quickly they don't test in time.

hope that helps

I used the Persona monitor for 2 cycles (32 day and 25 day cycles so suppose could call irregular?) and never got an egg symbol I believe I should have got. Also had no EWCM so thought I wasn't ovulating. Forgot about it this cycle as was stressing me.....got a BFP on Tuesday!

sarahnh · 18/10/2007 20:46

thanks for that! My cycle is all over the place so i was trying to see if i could pin point things! Been trying for 10 months now and just wanna BFP!!! i guess i will just have to keep bding and hope for the best!

Oh.....if cycles are all over the place, DITCH THE STICKS!!! This is what I was told, they are not much good if you have irregular cycles!

I feel for you, I was ttc for few months, first 2 cycles I was madly obsessed, long story but given info which made me believe I'd have a bit of a wait so decided to forget it and just have sex when we wanted, not when I might be fertile. We hardly had sex this cycle (3rd) and got my BFP on Tuesday. Not meant to rub it in or anything.....trying to say the best thing is to RELAX and TRY and not think about it.

I wish you all the best. Baby dust

If you have irregular cycles, try reading Toni Weschler's (may be spelled wrong) book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It explains all about how your cycle works, even if irregular, and how to tell when you are fertile.
If you use OPK, they can show positive for one day or two days, depends how long your LH surge lasts.
I have no idea what my "normal" cycle is, as only had 2 after coming off the pill, then fell pg, then had mc, and now in first cycle after mc. So have been trying everything out there (TCOYF charting, OPK, and cleablue fertility monitor) to try figure out my cycles and if/when I am ov'ing again.
Good luck!

If your cycles are irregular I would have a blood test done to see what your hormone levels are like. Such problems arer often caused by hormonal imbalances which can be treated.

OPK's are beset with problems; these assume that all women have one rise in LH every month and that such a rise is immediately followed by ovulation. Both of these are simply not true. Again if you are one of many women producing higher than average levels of LH the kit reads that.

sarahnh · 19/10/2007 12:16

thanks pinkpeony and about mc. I am on cycle 10 ttc #2, i got pg with my dd after 4 months of coming off the pill! I'm like you will try anything and everything but at the moment nothing seems to be happening. Everyone say relax and let nature takes it course but i am typically a very impatient person who wants everything now! Good luck you too xxx
