ADVICE PLEASE!!!!! TTC after MC.

I MC five weeks ago. Still grieving but desperate to be PG again. Should I wait? My instinct is to continue TTC but Im not sure my heart will be able to bear any more upset!

Cheekster, I'm so sorry for your loss. Was this your first pg? I had an mc at five weeks with my first pg, but was pg again within three months (we had two months off trying and I got pg again at the first attempt) and I went on to have a lovely ds. Don't give up hope, mc is incredibly common and having one mc doesn't decrease your chances of going on to carry a baby to term at all. As long as you feel physically okay I guess there's no reason for you not to ttc again straight away, in the end you have to do what is right for you. Good luck

Thank you so much for your advice. I have only jst stumbled upon this website and reading peoples stories and feelings has really helped and made me realise Im not the only one in this situation. Thanks once again.

Yes it was my first pg and I too was five weeks pregnant. Im hopeful that like you I will be able to concieve and be blessed with a child.

Cheekster I am so sorry to hear your news, those first few weeks are particularly heart breaking. I had a mc at 9 weeks (baby had stopped developing at 6wks) last Oct. We decided to take a break and then start again this Jan but there are many people on these threads who decided to start trying again straight away. Most of the time it is down to your personal choice and state of mind if you want to wait after your first period or just go for it.

Please do come an join us at the TTC after MC thread, you will be among friends and we all support each other.

Cheekster - I'm so sorry to hear that you miscarried your first baby - that is very hard

You can, if you like, start trying again straight away, but I would recommend waiting at least a month just to go yourself a chance to recover emotionally.

hi, im also from the ttc after miscarriage thread and would like to say that i had a missed miscarriage 5 weeks ago and am getting ready to (ok i already have ) pull out the pregnancy tests again you should come over its fun!!

hi, I also had a missed mc in August, had an ERPC 7 weeks ago, and decided to TTC right away (once we could). Some doctors tell you to wait until your first period, to make it easier to date the pregnancy, but some women get pg again before getting their period. It all depends how long it takes for your body to be ready again, and if emotionally you are ready. Apparently, you are more fertile both after a mc and after giving birth.

Thanks PinkPeony for your advice - I dont really think theres a right or a wrong way to go about it - its what ever is right for me I suppose. I really want to try again but the thought of me mc again haunts me. Still unsure to be honest. But then reading about all you brave folk kind of puts things into perspective. I cant believe how much better I feel since I stumbled across this website. Real people - with real advice talking from experience - better than any counciller if you ask me

Cheekster, I know just what you mean about the idea of mc'ing again haunting you, but all the books/articles/websites I've read on this subject (and I've read alot!) say that having one mc doesn't in any way increase your chances of having another. An excellent book to read to get all the facts is the one by Lesley Regan about miscarriage. She is a very experienced and highly thought of hospital consultant. I read her book after my first mc and found it very reassuring. Most libraries should have it, and places like Amazon. Don't despair. You're bound to go through some very turbulent emotions in the few weeks after mc. Just take your time and do what you feel is right when you're ready.

Hi Cheekster, I'm so sorry to hear about your mc - I understand how devastating they are. I had a mc at 9 weeks almost 13 weeks ago (have already got 3yr ds & 17mths ds). I personally could not wait til after my first period to try ttc again - I'm now 12 weeks preg (according to the scan 12weeks 1day), but according to the incredibly strong ovulation signs I had, I think it is probably a week or two less than that. Yes, it is hard emotionally, it is up to you, no right or wrong decision, I'm still living one day at a time. Also hard is having morning sickness for the past 20 weeks!
