Yucky EWCM question

I am definitely ovulating or gearing up for it - my cycles are pretty regular which makes it easier to predict plus I have the usual symptoms.
However this month my EW type mucus is really heavily streaked with brown. Does that mean anything?

could be old blood as the cervix opens up when you're fertile.

Thanks - yes I wondered if that was it.
Just a bit strange as it has the stretchy EW consistency but is more brown than clear.

My OH suggested it was caused by a 'rotten, hard boiled egg' - what a charmer.

I'm no expert, but I had some brown EWCM and thought it was implantation (came 7 days after a positive OPK test). however, a couple of days later I started getting loads more EWCM and got it for four days so I reckon that was the real ov.

lol at DH's comment! I'd stick with the 'very open and fertile' cervix theory.

nancy, no advice on EWCM, but I just saw your name and wanted to thank you for the evening primrose tip - worked first time (6th mth of trying) and I saw a massive increase in CM so I feel it was definitely due to that! Thank you so much!

Apparently - when the egg ripens and bursts from the ovary, the sac it bursts from sometimes bleeds a little - hence the tinged CM. Mine does sometimes and other times not. It wouldn't be implantation bleeding as it wouldn't occur at the same time as CM IYSWIM. Implantation bleeding occurs anywhere from 5 days after ovulation.
