One year into TTC and usually I have consistently long cycles - 34-35 days and ovulate around day 21-22. Surge starts around day17-18 and peaks at 21-22.This month day 15-16 I had some CM that looked fertile but I thought it was just the start of my fertile window. Day 17 marginally positive opk so we BDed day 17 and day 18 and then I was expecting opk to get darker but wham it went absolutely faint day 18 onward !!! Not even a sign of LH surge. Based on this my calendar is now saying I ovulated day 17 and I will have a 31 day cycle so I am really confused. Not sure if we need to continue trying now (day 21-22, which should be my ovulation, but literally have no CM and very very negative opk!)
What could have brought on early ovulation and I am starting to wonder if I ovulated or not ? I did a progesterone test last month which confirmed I ovulated so I think I usually do ovulate. Just very confused and at the wits end of my patience anyway!
Please help me make sense of this.

It's hard to say without tracking BBT. Do you know your LP length?

Variation can be normal, it really depends on the cause. Kerp an eye on this and next few cycles!

I would say to keep an eye out in case your body tried to ovulate early but didn't manage, as it might well try again around the usual time, or even later. You seem pretty in tune with your body so I'm sure you will spot the signs but you could also continue with cheap OPK at least once a day to keep an eye on LH picking back up.
