I need answers

Hello

I hope someone can shed some light for me.

I’m thinking of getting some private tests done. The tests I’m looking at are Semen Analysis for OH, AMH testing and ultrasound for me. Combined with a consultation.

We’ve been trying for some time and had 3 losses. All around 4 week mark.

Would any of these tests give us the answers as to why this is happening x

Hi sorry to hear about your losses and that you're having such a difficult time TTC. It's such a hard journey! Have you had basic blood tests done for you? Things like progesterone taken about a week after you ovulate and FSH taken on day 3 of your cycle are good to start with. Also thyroid (TSH) testing is usually part of the initial bloods work up.
Sperm analysis would be useful just in case. Probably fine as you have conceived before.
Ultrasound would be good just incase, could see if any issues with PCOS, or your lining.
Do you live in England? I would have thought they would have been offering additional testing for recurring miscarriages. That's maybe something you could look into?

@fourteen6 - thank you for replying. GP has done blood tests on thyroid which case back fine. I’ve been referred to a clinic and am waiting for an appointment which may take months.

Haven’t had any other bloods done, progesterone was not checked as GP stated I am ovulating since I’ve managed to conceive x

I’m sorry about your losses. An ultrasound might help identify some issues. I had a loss at 8 weeks in the summer and an ultrasound revealed a fibroid that was making a pregnancy unlikely to go the whole way. Then I had a hysteroscopy ...
They went in with a camera, removed the fibroid and scraped away some endometriosis. I fell pregnant with twins the month after that! I’m so glad they saw what they saw on the ultrasound and solved a simple problem that was preventing pregnancy. I hope that they do the tests for you soon and that any issues are quickly solvable. @LittleTiger007 - if u don’t mind me asking did u get both the ultrasound and surgery done on NHS and if so did u have to wait long? What were timescales like?

I don’t mean to pry but I’m just trying to figure out all the possibilities I might be looking at going forward.

Great news that it worked out for u, this gives me hope. This is exactly why I want answers as if there’s a small issue that can be resolved then I’d love to get that done sooner rather than later. The thought of keep TTC if something is stopping a pregnancy going the full way is pointless to me x

Hi @StarsinEye I completely agree that you want/need to get checks done ASAP in case something simple is preventing pregnancy. If only I’d known that before!
For me they did the ultrasound on the NHS and then did the hysteroscopy just over a fortnight later also on the nhs. The swiftness was linked to the fact that I had miscarried and they needed to check all was ok. The reason I had to wait over 2 weeks was that I needed a covid test and to then isolate. The fact that I mentioned some random slight bleeding was the red flag for them and they got the ball rolling straight away.
I hope they will check you over thoroughly and soon on the nhs. Good luck.

I guess it varies from place to place. I’m in Suffolk.
