Positive OV test on period

I have been using ovulation tests as a form of avoiding pregnancy (have 3 kids & husband is on the waiting lost for snip) I did an ovulation test as I was feeling crampy & it was positive, then later that day started my period. Did another test the following day & it was positive again. Why would u have a positive ov test during period? Searched the web but the only explanation is PCOS which I dont have???

The other explanation is that you're pregnant as LH tests can detect HCG as well.

I must say though that using OPKs as a contraceptive sounds like a terrible idea considering sperm can live up to 5 days and you could be ovulating the same day as your peak?

I am having a full period though (not just implantation spotting) We also use the pull out method which I know is risky too, I use the strips to know when to avoid altogether. Waiting on him going for the snip, he wont use condoms, I have had implants, pills etc but my hormones where all over the place & it nearly ended our marriage so trying not to take anything else while we wait on his op.

Could be that the egg fertilised but just didn't stick so kinda like a very early miscarriage? I only took a pregnancy test because I also got positive OPK but was also bleeding. Ended in early miscarriage but took 3 weeks to get negative test again.

I'd say you could be pregnant. The bleeding could mean a loss or mean nothing. Definitely test though. Every time ive had a positive OPK before my period I've been pregnant. And the pull out method is not a method of contraception... it's just people getting lucky and not getting pregnant!

So I did a preg test & its negative, also did another ov test & its still very faintly positive??? Have attached pics for both.

So this is my 4th day of positive ov tests although its VERY faint & trailing off (suspect tomorrow will be negative) but also my 3rd/4th day of my period. So confused.

That’s not a positive ov test. The test line has to be as strong as, or stronger than the control line for an ovulation test to be positive.

This is my 4th day so its faint as its trailing off, the prev days have been strong. I have been using them for years & they always start faint go strong then trail off faint again

You can get more than one LH surge in a cycle - not every LH surge leads to ovulation

You can get an LH surge before your period, it's v common, but it usually doesn't show a full positive OPK. At any given time of the month there will be a line on the OPK, but it needs to be very dark to be positive. Even a slight decrease in test line colour won't be positive.
