Currently day 8 and about to start testing.

I have 75 cheap one-step tests!

How often should I test and what time is the best to test?

Test everyday as when I was trying to conceive I started testing to late as I realised I ovulated earlier than thought, I tested twice a day mid morning don't use fmu as that can give a false result and then again around 6 or 7. Good luck.x

If its your first time using OPKs I would recommend testing from CD9. Test once a day, in the afternoon, until you see it get darker. When it gets darker test 2 or 3 times a day so that you catch it at its darkest (when the test line is darker than the control line), this will be your peak. Once you've got your peak, ovulation normally happens 18-36 hours later but this can be confirmed with a temp rise.

I tested every time I went for a wee (I love seeing positive lines) and found they worked really well. Good luck.

Thanks for all replies!

I don't get home from work until 5 so how do you manage testing around being out the house or are you all based at home?

I can't hide in the toilet for 5 minutes whilst it processes !

Could you do it on a lunch break? If not 5pm would be fine. When it gets darker you'll want to test twice a day, so either 5pm and late evening or morning and 5pm. Everyone says don't test early morning but I had my peak yesterday and it was still showing strong this morning.

Hi Op. I test daily from CD7 and twice daily from CD10. I do first thing even though it says not to use first urine I have had peaks at that time, and after work. X

Do morning before work and when you get home at 5pm. If it’s getting darker and you’re reaching your peak might want to test before you go to bed too as in my case I can get a peak reading couple of hours after it was just high, so this gives you higher chances of catching it. If your cycle is standard start testing from cd 10 and because it’s your first month test twice daily until it starts getting darker, then do more to catch the peak. Once you get to know your usual pattern can test less the first few days. Xx
Also, I strongly recommend downloading the femometer app-it has the best intelligent recognition on it and scans your opks so you can tract your progression.

@PurpleIsTheColour that is really helpful. I have pre mom but will get femometer. Thank you so much!

I test every time I wee (apart from FMU) from CD9 - my peaks tend to show early afternoon so even early morning I can tell when the line is starting to darken, and they are often rapid peaks so disappear quickly.

I echo the Femometer app - I also have a Femometer so track my BBT through this - also Premom is a good one too and you’re able to choose the brand of strip when you’re taking photos of them to analyse.

I’d recommend easy@home strips though - I have ended up having to use one step and easy@home at the same time as the one step lines are super light that I generally can’t tell the result until I log it in the app.
