Hi everyone.

I had a private scan last week which showed baby’s a/c at 93rd percentile and femur length ag 10th percentile.

Did anyone else have experience with small femur length and if you did, what was the outcome? See a lot of people talking about it but can’t find much in the way of outcomes? I’m really worried because I googled it and it’s scared me - mostly with mentions of Down’s syndrome and I really don’t want to be awake tonight again worried about it. Finding so hard :(

My grandson had measured something like that ....mad difference. He was a big baby ,way over 10 lb . He is perfectly in proportion. The scan was wrong . He was a lot bigger than expected. He was 1 in September and perfect . Every good luck 🤞

My son's was short and he's totally fine, he just has short legs like his Dad

I think these scans can often be inaccurate. They thought one of my kids had a really tiny head compared to abdominal circumference at my 20 week scan. Two weeks later when they checked again all was normal - they said she perhaps had needed a wee when the earlier scan was done.

Thanks ladies. So short femur should worry me too much? Sitting here close to tears with worry... again! It was a 31 week growth scan as well so not sure if that makes any difference.

My DD was below the 5th centile. Had growth scans all through my pregnancy and was induced because they didn't think she was growing properly and was worried. She's literally fine. Is now 2 years old and is completely normal size! She is absolutely perfect. Infact she looks more taller than short. Please don't worry I know I did and it was all for nothing!

This post would probably get more traffic on the pregnancy page...

Oh sorry. I thought I had. Will re post

We had this. Such a huge worry, for so long. Really went through the wringer, I don’t know how we coped. She is absolutely fine now at 2, everything great. Just has short thighs!

yawnyawn4 · 13/11/2020 20:48

Yes, DC2. She's probably below average height now but not ridiculously so.
One of my DC was high risk for DS and it wasn't her! No one even said anything - I believe it's only a concern if they drop below 0.8 centile. The high risk DC had a femur length off the chart long and I was told femur length was out of date info, NT and bloods a much better basis.

I also had a growth scan today and baby’s head was low centile, stomach was high centile and femur was bang in the middle. I asked the sonographer if I should be worried that the measurements seem to be all over the place and she said not at all, as long as they are all within the normal range there is nothing to be concerned about. I was also a bit skeptical but she assured me that it’s not a concern.

Thank you so much. I then got worried thinking his EDD was maybe out but I guess 12 weeks s and are accurate for dates and not 3 weeks out, are they? Really appreciate this support so thank you x
