Pregnancy Test Confusion!

7 replies

Sam2021 · 12/11/2020 10:30

Hi!
2 days ago I did two pregnancy tests (blue dye) which both had faint positives. However today I did another test (pink dye) and it’s negative. My period leading up to this was 7 days late and I’m currently experiencing brown spotting. Any ideas?

Possibly a chemical? Although blue dye are known for bad evap lines

Sam2021 · 12/11/2020 10:34

I was thinking that, however the lines appeared very quickly, and I thought evap lines took a while?

Get a digital test that says pregnant/not pregnant

Alicespring · 12/11/2020 10:37

Was it a clear blue test?
It's maybe more likely you've had a chemical, whenever I've had them the line has been their but very faint and then gradually nothing and the bleeding would start soon after.

I've had a few evaps with both pink and blue dye tests - so frustrating Sad
Agree with PP, try a Clearblue digital test (as long as you're not testing too early, I find these aren't as sensitive as normal tests.) Good luck!

Thank you!
The blue dye ones were standard Sainsbury’s ones and the pink dye test was from boots. Both tests have the same sensitivity of 25 mIU/ml.
Because my usual regular period was a week late and now the brown spotting, I’m very confused! I do have a blood test coming up Monday to check as I have an IUD.

@Sam2021
The supermarket ones are horrendous for false positives if you go by a lot of the stuff on MN. Maybe ask the doc to check it out when your there
