Bfp at 6dpo!

Hi ladies...

Hope you don't mind me sharing my story, I have googled so much and haven't found anything remotely similar to my situation.

I've been trying to conceive 2.5 years 😥 I had a molar pregnancy 18 months ago and was given the go ahead to start trying again in Dec. No luck so far, not a shadow of a line until a crazy unexpected bfp at 6dpo yesterday. Let me explain dates...

My LMP was 24-29 Oct (normal bleed). I then had peak on clearblue fertility monitor on 1st and 2nd November. I started spotting on the 3rd (TMI brown stringy clots) then got a strong bfp yesterday on the 8th! Which would be 6dpo, which is ridiculous and impossible. Clearblue digital with fmu today say 2-3 weeks (since conception) and blood test today (9th) says 555hcg.

Doc will check me again in 48 hours so should know more then whether it's progressing normally or not.

Despite being hopeful, clearly feels like something is up here. I'm still spotting etc. I'm not sure how I could be so far along with me ovulating just over a week ago.

Has anyone any ideas or experiences? Good or bad would love to know. Xx

Hi @autumnfires ! I don't mean to be a negative nancy, but those dates don't add up, if you had AF until 29th Oct and ovulated 4 days later that would be just cd4, I doubt an egg would be mature enough released that early, plus it would take 6-12 days to implant, but you say bfp at 6dpo. I would be veryyy wary that it could possibly be ectopic. Not sure about the hcg levels but seem high for so early - Do you have any pain?

On the other hand you could have been pregnant longer than you realised, from before your AF, is that possible?

Stabal · 09/11/2020 20:27

@autumnfires agreed with @Toastedsesame this doesn't add up.. By the sounds of it the peak reading you got was probably picking up HCG, not LH and you're pregnant longer than you realise and you've had a bleed. If that's the case your numbers would be quite low for how far along you are.. I don't want to send you into a panic but I'd be wary. Fingers crossed it's good news from the new blood test 🤞

Pollyell · 09/11/2020 21:36

Someone posted on this forum recently saying they had a period then found out a month later that they were something like 8 weeks pregnant and had just had a normal 'period' at 4 weeks pregnant, so it does happen! Fingers crossed for you x

eloiseislost · 09/11/2020 22:01

It certainly sounds a bit odd!
This is what I got from the internet (so take it with a pinch of salt):

The American Pregnancy Association's typical hCG by week of pregnancy:
3 weekss_: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
4 weekss_: 5 - 426 mIU/ml

So if you are about 2-3 weeks, then your hcg levels are OK. Of course, your doctor will evaluate that.
I can only imagine how you feel, the excitement of the BFP along with the confusion of the bizarre circumstances! I hope everything turns out OK for you! 🤞🏼❤️

This is incorrect. If she started AF on 24th Oct, she would have been approx CD 9 or 10 when she ovulated. Which is fine. OP If you ovulated within 12 hours of your peak on 1st then you could actually be 8 or 9 dpo and everything's seems fine. Congratulations
Meme69 · 09/11/2020 22:44

@toastedsesame CD1 would be 24th, not 29th. You start from the start of AF not the last day

Hi @autumnfires hope you are doing ok. I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks, which was just a few days after my BFP. It’s often a wait it out situation and that can be really difficult so I hope you are doing ok. Sounds like you are getting good care. It may just be a bleed, you only really know over time if the bleeding stops and the hcg levels stay high.

As I understand it hcg levels can vary a lot in individuals esp in early pregnancy, so it’s really the pattern over time that you need to know to have an idea what’s going on.

Brown blood sounds positive as it’s old blood, it’s Gets bright right and persistent there is more cause for worry but may still be ok.

Sending kind thoughts 🤞💖

Toastedsesame · 10/11/2020 07:53

Apologies @autumnfires @Meme69 is correct. I hope you are ok.

autumnfires · 10/11/2020 08:33

Thank you so much for your kind messages Flowers really appreciate them all. Such a horrible, lonely wait!

Abnormal pregnancy is probably my biggest fear @Toastedsesame agree ectopic or molar totally possible, am defs wary of getting excited. Tugging rather than lots of pain, slightly sore lower back. Horrible headache aswell 😪 but I'm abit congested so might be why.

@Stabal I agree if I'm having a mc my numbers could have been higher before all the bleeding and they've come down.

I suppose there's also a slight chance of a normal bfp 🤞@Meme69 I like your version alot! Practical part of me feels like hcg is way too high though. @Pollyell I hope for that but only symptoms are sore boobs and dry mouth, couple spots. Also Hcg would be low for 8 weeks, although guess we're all different 🤯

Few spots of pink blood in the mix so it's not all old blood unfortunately @Bouncytree

I'll keep you posted xx

@autumnfires So sorry to hear Flowers hopefully not ectopic. Take care

Bouncytree · 11/11/2020 20:47

Sorry to hear that @autumnfires and that you have to go through this. They always monitor for ectopic, but it’s likely you would have a lot of pain, so it’s precautionary...just in case you have any moment of worry.

For me it made me feel better to know that these early losers happen due to the pregnancy not being viable, and that it wasn’t anything I did or anything that could be done.

Be kind to yourself this week, lots of tlc. Sending kind thoughts 💖

Pumpkinstace · 11/11/2020 20:50

I got a bfp at 7dpo.

I over produce hormone though and had very very bad sickness throughout.

autumnfires · 11/11/2020 21:04

@Bouncytree that does make me feel better, really it does, thank you Flowers
