Can BBT be wrong?

I know BBT can confirm that you have/haven't ovulated, but can it confirm when? As you see from the pics I got the peak opk on the 31st with EWCM starting on the 28th so the app showed me to ovulate on the 2nd. But when I took my temp this morning the app changed my ovulation date to the 4th, 4 days after my peak and 2 days after the last of EWCM. We DTD on the 30th/1st/2nd/3rd so I hope we still caught the egg whether I ovulated on the 2nd or the 4th. Anyway, what I'm asking I guess is could my BBT be wrong about when the egg actually released? (I take my temp before i get up around the same time every morning, give or take a few mins).

@sabtom my guess is it was changed because the 3rd temperature after ovulation should be higher. However I've no idea if that means it's correct or not! I find fertility friend a much easier graph to read, maybe try entering your info there and see what it says?

@Stabal so i downloaded FF and input all the details for this month but I find it very confusing to use Confused I've attached a screenshot of the graph

@sabtom that looks much clearer to me that you ovulated when you think you did 😊 I'd be inclined to go with it

Is that Femometer you are using? That’s odd usually when you have a peak opk it’ll mark ovulation down as the next day so should have marked it down as the 1st not the 2nd (I use Femometer too)
To confirm ovulation you need to have 3 consecutive days of higher temps post ov. As you can see on your chart your temp dropped down again so the app has basically decided going by your temps that you didn’t ovulate then! Was there anything different about the day you got a lower temp? Wake up earlier? Disturbed sleep?

Char899 · 08/11/2020 13:16

Yep, FF is showing you ovulated on the 1st, the day after your peak opk so that makes sense :)

@Char899 @Stabal thankyou for your replies. Yeah it is Femometer, and it did give my ovulation day as the 1st when I got my peak, but it changed when my temp increased. So yeah it could've been because of the temp not being taken at the exact time. I usually take my temp between 6:30-7:00am

For the first time since tracking femometer gave me two possible ovulation dates for this cycle as by BBT it was earlier in week, by OPK peak it was later. The app came up with a message that said that when there are conflicting results in the data the app will default to BBT and use this. I think based on my other symptoms my OPK based date was correct though.

@sabtom this might be helpful for you for times when you're late or early in taking your temp
