Hello,

Been ttc fir a while now, dp has a low sperm count, just wondering if anyone has managed to conceive with a low count? He is OK in all other areas, just the count is a bit on the low side!

Anyone?

Hey,

Yes my partner has a low sperm count and we conceived naturally. We had been trying for a few years with no luck and the month that I got pregnant the only thing I did differently was to use a Moon Cup straight after bd. I also used Pre-Seed but had been using that for a few months.

As the Dr said to us, it only takes one sperm Wink

Wishingonastar20 · 09/11/2020 09:23

@BumblingBea Hello! That is great news, do you remember how low your partners count was? I have a moon cup equivalent so will give that a try, thank you!

Sorry I can't remember the numbers, it was over a year ago. But we were referred on to a fertility consultant to go down the iui/ ivf route. A week after the referral I found out I was pregnant naturally 😊

I was on forums too and that's where I came across a post where someone in a similar situation had used a moon cup so I thought I would give it a go too! We're about to start trying for baby number two now and I will definitely be using a Moon Cup from the start 😊

Wishingonastar20 · 09/11/2020 10:12

That must have been a relief, to not have to go down then iui/ivf route, glad it worked out for you! Hope you don't mind me asking but how long do you leave the moon cup in for?

Good luck ttc baby no.2 🤞 x

BumblingBea · 09/11/2020 10:30

@Wishingonastar20 I think I left it in overnight and took it out first thing the next morning but I would definitely recommend that you look into it a bit before you do it to make sure that it's safe for you to do! 😊

How long have you been trying for? And thank-you, hopefully it doesn't take us another couple of years this time 🤞🏻

Wishingonastar20 · 09/11/2020 10:42

@BumblingBea ahh okay I will have a read up on it! Just over a year now ... hoping our time will come soon! Have you been trying for no.2 for long?

OP posts:
BumblingBea · 09/11/2020 10:54

@Wishingonastar20 I will have everything crossed for you that you will get your bfp soon! You'll have to come back and update me if you do! 😊 this was going to be our first month ttc number 2 but I don't know if we'll be able to this month. I'm a bit of a poas addict so it'll be better for my bank balance to wait another month😅

Wishingonastar20 · 09/11/2020 14:05

@BumblingBea thank you, I will make sure to update you! Oh no, that is an expensive habit! I cant say I am one for testing early, my af signs are enough for me to no it is a bfn!

PeachSprinkle · 29/05/2021 10:20

Did you get your BFP? Similar situation here. My OH has a count under 30% @Wishingonastar20

LondonladyTTC · 29/05/2021 11:53

Hi @PeachSprinkle this advice may have already been given to you by your consultant but my DH has also been told he has a low count and the fertility consultant recommended he started taking proxeed plus sachets twice a day. They have miracle reviews for increasing count but are a little expensive (I justified it by telling myself way cheaper and less stressful than ivf) he has only been taking them for three weeks so no success story yet.

hopefully2021 · 29/05/2021 19:10

@LondonladyTTC how are you getting on? Has your luteal phase increased now? sadly no success story for me either yet! Hitting the one year mark pretty soon Sad
Are you still under fertility plus?

LondonladyTTC · 29/05/2021 21:09

Hi @hopefully2021 , lovely to hear from you! My luteal phase is still being treated so isn't short anymore but we have since found out that DH could be playing a part too (low concentration and morphology). No success story sadly and sorry to hear that it hasn't been for you either. I am still seeing Dr Gudi monthly and the plan is another three months of timed cycles before thinking about the next step. Are you still having investigations?

I have passed the year mark and it is such a scary milestone... DH is still pretty chilled though but is at least appreciating that it's taking a long time. When we started trying he said that if we don't conceive in a year we should get a dog and it's a bit of a joke now (because he doesn't want one but never expected it to take the year! Grin)

hopefully2021 · 29/05/2021 21:36

@LondonladyTTC I’ve been thinking about you & friendlybadger wondering if you’ve had any luck yet! That’s interesting to hear my DH has low morphology too he’s been taking some supplements which Dr Shah recommended so I’m hoping they make a positive impact, he did say they take at least 3 months to make any difference so fingers crossed!
I’m glad to hear that it’s not completely all on you though it must be a bit of a relief to know! I haven’t been back yet after initial investigations as dr shah recommended supplements for us both and said to return in 6 months if no luck, but he also said to get referred via the doctor for testing as we are in hackney and he also runs the fertility department in homerton xx
It’s crazy isn’t it! When we first started i said I would be happy to fall pregnant by last Christmas and now I’ve changed the goalpost to this Christmas Confused
My DH is super chilled too, just said it will happen when the time is right and he’s confident once we are moved and settled in our new place it will happen xxx

Hi girls,

Are your Doctors only doing the basic semen analysis?

Or are they also doing other tests to narrow down the cause?

Smile
PeachSprinkle · 06/06/2021 07:58

@Iszzy I think my OH has reviews every 6 months. We may need to book and get his advice on ttc. Im taking folic acid but may switch to something else.
The numbers he's given are sperm count and I think the consultant is analysing everything else so hopefully will hear im next few weeks.
The reason for the low count is my OH was kicked in his privates with steel toe cap boots.
Feel free to send me a message Smile

Iszzy · 06/06/2021 16:15

@PeachSprinkle Testicular injury would definitely explain his count. How long ago was this out of curiosity?

At a guess he may need extra tests to check his testicles have fully recovered from that injury and it is not affecting his sperm quality (rather than count).

Feel free to message me if you don't get much help from the Consultant in due course.

Halo
PeachSprinkle · 06/06/2021 19:47

@Iszzy it happened when he was a teenager. Hes now almost 43.

Iszzy · 07/06/2021 00:11

@PeachSprinkle If all other sperm parameters are 'good' you might be fine with just sperm preparation and IUI.

IUI is very good for male factor related infertility, not so much for tubal issues.
