Looking for some advice on the best way to track ovulation.

-I suffer with irregular periods.
-I had a miscarriage in July this year.

I took a period middle of October so managed to track my fertile window however I’m currently on cycle day 39 and I’ve been getting BFN’s for the past week.

Last Sunday to Tuesday I had very light spotting it was pink but still BFN's.

I’m getting a bit discouraged as most women would of had a period by now or could say it’s ‘late’ but I just don’t know when I’m going to take another period.

I don’t know when I’m ovulating, any advice on the best thing to do? Anything I can buy?

I’m wasting money on tests and just want to cry to be honest I feel at a loss.

@Annie1211 I had really long and irregular cycles and it was really really stressing me out as I couldn't track ovulation through temping or apps etc, I used the clear blue connected ovulation tests in the end! They are so good, you literally test once a day with Fmu and that's it, it connects to the app on your phone.... you get flashing smileys on your high fertility days snd a static smiley on peak fertility! Xx I tended to buy them on eBay as seemed to be cheapest x

@Annie1211 also I started taking soy isoflavones in July as sometimes my periods were 90 days!! It regulated my cycles to 30-35 days x

Annie1211 · 07/11/2020 20:31

@AnxiousAnnie86 Thankyou so much for replying I will look into that xxxx

@Annie1211 good luck! If you decide to go down soy route and have any questions just let me know! Xx

MintGreenLife · 07/11/2020 22:14

@Annie1211 hope you don't mind me gate crashing!

@AnxiousAnnie86 which soy isoflavones did you take and which cycle days? I'm currently CD25 and no ovulation yet 🙄 Earliest ovulation so far has been CD25 and latest around CD40. 7 months TTC and getting so sick of never knowing when I will ovulate/waiting such a long time after AF x

AnxiousAnnie86 · 07/11/2020 22:21

@MintGreenLife I will link the ones I used, I used them from July, CD3-7 but last month took them 2-6 as heard people had more success and I'm actually 6 weeks pregnant now, they definitely helped regulate my cycles as they were totally all over before! So I would recommend the below

Cd2 - 150mg
Cd3 - 150mg
Cd4- 150mg
CD5- 200mg
Cd6- 200mg

Natures Aid Soya Isoflavones - 50mg Non-GM (prov Genistein, Daidzein & Glycitein) 90 Tablets https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000GY76L6/ref=cmswwrcppapifabcc_m1XPFbC5T37W8

AnxiousAnnie86 · 07/11/2020 22:22

@MintGreenLife this was my issue I had cycles rhat were up to 90 days! But when taking soy I never ovulated later then 23 really averaging between 17-19 x

Annie1211 · 07/11/2020 22:30

So glad I'm not the only one! I ordered the clear blue ovulation sticks from Amazon today 😊

@AnxiousAnnie86 do you use it everyday or every couple of days? 20 In a pack x

I would normally start with it on say day 14, and take it every day in the morning FMU ONLY you'll get blank circles until it detects a rise in oestrogen When you get flashing then static when LH xx

MintGreenLife · 08/11/2020 10:12

@AnxiousAnnie86 thanks so much ☺️ I may try this next cycle. I'm trying AC at the mo but obviously not helping so far as I had ovulated by this time last cycle and nothing so far 🙄 I have a short LP as well though, so best look into soy with a short LP x

AnxiousAnnie86 · 08/11/2020 10:14

@MintGreenLife another lady I've been speaking to for several months had a really really short LP PHase and she takes b12 and it seems to be getting longer! X

Hi OP, I have very regular periods so my advice may not be quite right, but I have had good luck tracking ovulation - if I were you I wouldn’t go for the clearblue ovulation sticks, they’re more expensive for no reason (well the brand name) and it’s harder to follow a smiley face than a line.
Get a big box of 200 cheapie LH sticks, they don’t cost much, and do one every day from after a bleed, so as your cycle is irregular you’re covering all bases. Then when you get a line start doing two a day until your get a positive, if you’re close to a positive even 3 over the afternoon/evening might be good as the LH surge can be really quick and easily missed. LH tests should always be done in the afternoon/evening as that’s when the hormone is highest, not first thing in the morning like pregnancy tests, so if you’ve been doing them in the morning you might have missed one. This might help. Good luck x

Buy and read this book - Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler: www.amazon.co.uk/Taking-Charge-Your-Fertility-Reproductive/dp/0091887585?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Honestly one of the most life-changing things I've ever read and learned.

I had no idea how my body worked and when I was or wasn't fertile. Reading this was an extraordinary 'wow' moment. It basically tells you about how your body changes during a cycle and how to recognise where you are in it. I have used the techniques both for avoiding pregnancy, and for trying to conceive.

MintGreenLife · 08/11/2020 14:26

@AnxiousAnnie86 thanks ☺️ I'm currently taking a b vitamin complex and extra B6, hoping it improves, if I ever finally ovulate 🤦🏻‍♀️
