TTC and flu jab - is it safe?

Am TTC and ovulated last weekend - now in 2ww to see if we conceived or not. Am wondering if safe to do flu jab during 2ww? Am quite paranoid as had MMC and ERPC in August 07 and don't want to do anything that could harm conception or implantation if we are lucky this cycle. Does anyone know? And for those of you who already have children, what did doctors tell you when you were in early pregnancy or TTC about safety of flu jab? Have tried googling the topic and get lots of conflicting advice. Thanks!

I'd wait if I were you. Why risk it?

I had my 'flu jab on the 7th, and AF arrived on the 9th. I did a lot of reading up on this, and decided to get my 'flu jab. What I've read so far is that while 'flu jabs aren't recommended for women in early stages of pregnancy, the risk to the mother of contracting 'flu is seen as far greater than the risk of potentially harming the baby. I could not find anything which said the 'flu jab actually harmed the baby, although there may be studies out there which I haven't found.

I had long discussions about this with DH, and we decided that because I am in one of the 'at risk' groups for 'flu (asthma) I should go ahead and get the jab anyway. It's not worth not having it if we don't get PG. We've only just started TTC so the likelihood of being PG at the time of the jab was pretty low IMO.

I think it's down to each individual person. If you're in an 'at risk' group it might be an idea to talk with your local GP, as being PG lowers your immune system anyway and could make you more susceptible to contracting 'flu.
