Hi,

I had blood tests done this week as am 26 and been TTC for 12 months with no luck so far. Hopefully get results back mid next week.

Has anyone had blood tests done and did anything come back? What were your next steps after that?

Thanks :)

Hi @buckingmad Smile I had swabs and bloods done 3 weeks ago as my periods are extremely irregular - I've had 3 periods since April so not sure if I'm actually ovulating. The swabs came back normal and my bloods were fine except my prolactin levels which were elevated. They wanted to re-test in 3 weeks time to check so I had another blood test yesterday. Hoping to find out on Monday if the levels are still elevated and then I'll go from there. I've also just started temping to try and work out of I'm actually ovulating or not. It's a very anxious time but try and stay positive! Fx everything is ok, or you get some answers that may help with your ttc journey 🤞🏼

I had bloods done to check I was ovulating after TTC for 12 months. After results came back it was a referral to hospital to have a scan done to check tubes etc and DH to be checked too. Good luck x

What blood tests did you have taken OP?
X

buckingmad · 07/11/2020 13:10

@Metallicalover I think to check my fibroid function and to check my hormone levels. I didn’t think to ask specifics! But nurse that took them said it looked like a bit of everything.

I have quite heavy and painful periods but they’re pretty regular and I temp check and OPK so I’m pretty sure I do ovulate.

OH is also having checks and waiting to hear results.

@Metallicalover - I had bloods done as incurred two very early losses. It was basic stuff like thyroid etc checked. These tests came back okay but gp referred me on. Now I’m awaiting my appointment and haven’t heard a thing since September x

@buckingmad - sorry the above post was meant for you x

@buckingmad I had bloods done about a month ago and they checked testosterone, prolactin, TSH and FSH. My TSH came back a little higher than it should be for TTC at 3.5 (subclinical hypothyroidism) and FSH low. I'm now waiting to do a private blood test to investigate my thyroid further, as TSH at 3.5 is just in the normal NHS range, but should be under 2.5 for TTC. I'm then going to go back to the NHS with the results to see if they will do anything about it, and if not I'll go private x

I wasn't sure if you just had ovulation checked or other things such as your thyroid and testosterone etc taken.
I also had swabs taken also to check for any infections. Then my husband had to have his sperm checked and then we were referred.
Everything came back normal.
I was then referred and had a HSG (Hysterosalpingography) to check to see if there was any blockages in my Fallopian tubes (again it came back normal)
We were both 27 when we started ttc and I hadn't became pregnant that I know of as I didn't test early I probably had some chemical pregnancies as I had some periods that were late and heavy periods after wards.
I went to see the GP after ttc for 18 months.
They classed us as unexplained infertility.

Thanks everyone.

@MintGreenLife that’s a good idea re going private to investigate further. My grandma actually has hypothyrdroism although this didn’t affect her until later in life so I wouldn’t be hugely surprised if I had something going on!

Hello, I've just had my bloods yesterday how long did your results take? Xx

incywincyspiders · 01/09/2021 18:42

I had blood tests done about a month ago to check everything (the doctor called it an MOT). I'm only at 10 months of trying but I think as I'm 32 and also I really believed I had an underactive thyroid the doctor ran the tests early. Everything came back normal which is all good obviously but now have to wait another two months for further tests. I'm pretty sure I'm ovulating as my periods are very regular and I get peak opks but it's all very confusing.
