I did a very cheap pregnancy test yesterday (Amazon, £4 for 5 type) and got a faint positive. I didn't want to get my hopes up so rushed out and got the only tests in the store - £16 2x Clearblue Digital. Followed the instructions using a sample and BOTH got the 'book error.'

I then used another cheap test in the same sample and got another faint positive. In desperation I rushed out to another store and picked up £10 2x Clearblue ultra earlies. I tried one this morning and NOTHING happened. This time I peed on the stick in the hopes this would work out but no.

I have one more expensive one left!!! What would you all suggest I do? At my wits end today. Am I preggo or not? I'm due around now but my cycle changes between 32-38 days so hard to say (today is day 36)

If you're very early on in pregnancy then chances are the cheap ones show first (in my previous experience anyway!) save your expensive one for your first morning wee tomorrow and do it mid flow and it's more likely to show a proper result.
Good luck!

Don't waste your time or money with clear blues, the blue dye ones are awful and the digital won't register a positive yet. First response early results should show this early, but you don't need to keep buying expensive tests- a positive is a positive no matter how much you pay for the test.

The trouble this early is your hcg levels are fairly low still so a less sensitive test (like clear blue digital) won't give a positive result. Some of the cheap tests you get on eBay and Amazon are the same style used in GP/hospitals and can detect hcg at pretty low levels- which is why you get a positive earlier.

You could leave it a few days and do another cheap test or a first response early results (FRER) and you should see a slightly clearer line, leave digital tests another week or two.

Why do you think they just keep not working though? I'm most frustrated that I've spent £26 on them and they don't work full stop (not just not positive, no control line on the most recent, and two 'book errors' on the first two, when I've followed the instructions?) The 'Ultra earlies' are meant to show up to 6 days before your period, although I'll take that with a pinch of salt.

Thank you! I couldn't wait, I set a proper timer with my other ultra early one and it finally worked. And I got a line in both windows! So of the 3 that worked, that's 3 for 3! :D
