Hi all,

Just looking for opinions and reassurance really, as generally I’m quite anxious about leaving things very late for having children, I’m 34. DP and I both want kids but financially still have things we need to get in order, and I need to lose some weight before I would be comfortable trying to get pregnant.

I’ve spent most of my adult life on some form of hormonal contraception or another. I’ve had pills, depo, the implant, back to depo, back to the pill, etc. I’ve also had two unplanned pregnancies one in my teens and one in my last year of uni, had a termination on both occasions as I couldn’t give a child a good life at that stage in my life.

For the last year I’ve not been on any contraception and have been tracking my cycle with Flo. Since about the age of 25 I’ve been in tune enough with my body to recognise when I’m ovulating, changes to CM, feeling hot and flustered and also increased sex drive, etc.

So in this time I’ve been properly tracking my cycle I’ve come to recognise a fairly regular pattern of both duration and volume of bleeding, etc. My cycle is around 28-29 days usually. I can still tell when I’m ovulating (and it fits with what my app thinks too).

However, in July I skipped a period completely, and I’m certain I didn’t ovulate that month, as I didn’t have any normal signs. My cycle length was 59 days.

This last cycle was 21 days, as I’ve had two periods in October. And I had all my normal hormonal/bad skin/ovulation symptoms way sooner than usual, just a few days after my last period finished really.

I’m worried that all of these random irregularities are my reproductive system effectively doing a last few coughs and splutters before it gives up the ghost completely.

Has anyone else had similar and things been okay? Or also and these irregularities and have early menopause?

Thank you.
