TTC and mefenamic acid

I came off the pill in August and since have had the most horrific period pains, reminded me why I was on the pill in the first place. Can't cope with that every month as it actually makes me sick from the pain so my doctor prescribed me mefenamic acid. She said it doesn't affect fertility as she knows we're trying and that is what it says on the packet! Says do not take if trying to get pregnant as can make pregnanch more difficult. Is that the case of I only use them two days a month while the pain is at its peak?

Did anyone use this while TTC? I'm going to call my doctor

Hello! Funnily enough i spoke to my gp today about painfull periods (amongst other things) they advised the safest thing to take is paracetamol. Nothing else is advised apparently because they obviously can't test drugs on pregnant women. I feel your pain!

I also get very painful periods and ovulation pain, apparently nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Mefenamic Acid is one of these) can mess with ovulation and make miscarriage more likely. However I can't manage without pain relief so I take co-codamol (codiene and paracetamol). This page is useful: www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/im-pregnant/drugs-and-medicines-pregnancy

Interesting. The name itself freaks me out. I have hardly taken it, but just sporadically I assume it's ok, like anything.
