TTC - no period but negative test

Is this something that can happen or am I going crazy?

TTC our 2nd baby and I’m 5 days overdue on my period, seriously spotty and my boobs are huge so naturally I took a test today and it came back negative? So confused

I'm in the same boat at the minute period is 4 days late and bfn 😭 sorry I don't have any advice! I absolutely hate the not knowing part!
