Recently stopped pill - no period yet

Hello, just looking for some advice. I have been on the pill for around 8 years and recently came off it over a month ago to try for a baby. Within the first week I had a withdrawal bleed and then around 10 days ago I had some dark spotting but that’s it, no period since. I took a test which came back negative and have been taking ovulation tests frequently however they always say I’m not ovulating. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and whether it takes periods a while to regulate after stopping the pill. Not sure what the dark spotting was or if this counted as my period. My doctor said not to worry however I have bad health anxiety and worry a lot! Thanks

Depends what pill you were taking but it took me 3 months to have a proper period, it’s pretty normal to take 6 months for your body to regulate or start ovulating properly.

You say you worry a lot .. worry is the number 1 worst enemy for regular periods for a start! So you need to try and calm down. So long as you're sure you're not pregnant (and it might be an idea to just take a quick test to be certain, but it's only to tick the box really), your body will indeed get back to normal.

My first normal period when I stopped was just two days later than normal (but what I would have expected before I started taking the pill), and I'm not due my second yet so I don't know what that'll be like - but my friend's periods disappeared entirely for 3 months when she stopped her pill, the GP didn't seem remotely concerned, and they eventually got back to normal.

There’s a MN forum on here called post pill TTC - party harder. We all going through similar problems post pill.

I second moocher - our current record is 141 days without a period i think!

I stopped mine recently after 10 years on the pill, I had withdrawal bleeding then it was 5 weeks until my period. Lots of places I looked say it takes up to 3 months

It took me 9 months for my periods to come back. Went for tests in between but everything was fine.
