Hi all

First pregnancy - week 5 today!

Woke up and had some pains in lower right of groin, not terrible, haven't got work, but noticeable! They also haven't been constant.

I also had this afternoon, and sorry for TMI, some very light brown discharge, not much, probably no more than a 50p coin in total all day!

All this freaked me out so called the early pregnancy unit...they've asked me to go in for a quick scan and bloods, potentially ectopic pregnancy but also may be nothing!

GP on the other hand jumped off the deep end and started talking about miscarriage!!!!!

Has anyone else had this before and been okay?? It's really worried me but trying to keep a cool calm head on... but I have no other pregnancy symptoms other than being very thirsty and occasional sore nipples....so hoping this is all normal and just routine?

Thank you in advance for help!!

xxxxxx

@dh8892 Hi, first of all please please don't worry too much about any pains you may feel. I had an ectopic pregnancy and I couldn't even tell the difference between that pain and normal pregnancy pain in my early weeks with DD. In other words you will feel strange pains either way. Only you can tell if they feel severe enough to be concerning and by the sounds of what you have wrote it sounds normal. As for the spotting it can definitely be both normal and yes a sign of possible miscarriage. My sister had plenty of bleeding through her pregnancy and carried full term as normal. However, your doctor will have to tell you the facts and I guess that means preparing you for an early MC which I assume he is basing on the spotting and not the pains. Just keep an eye on it and if you have no more bleeding, try to forget about it and look forward to your scan. You don't have much reason to be concerned so far so enjoy the unfortunate side effects of pregnancy and be grateful you are the lucky one without many symptoms lol Grin I'm sorry I can't be more help, I know it is very scary and hard to stop thinking about. Be positive and try to relax and see where the next few days take you.

Just to warn you about the scan - they wont be able to see much at week 5! Cramps and spotting can be totally normal. If it moves on to new fresh blood and clots, that's the time to worry

Hi @dh8892 sorry to hear that you’ve been stressed about this. Like @Olivebranch26 and @TheDaydreamBelievers said it can be totally normal. Pains are a regular in Pregnancy and not a curse for wort Unless very severe or accompanied by fresh blood. Brown discharge is old blood and not a curse for concern. Good to get some care and support. Nothing that you report is terribly alarming, but it’s also about waiting to see what happens. That waiting is hard though when you feel worried. I hope you are doing ok
