I’m really stressed out. This is our 10th cycle ttc baby no 2. I’m 37, so time is not exactly on our side. I have a regular cycle, averaging 29 days.

This cycle I ovulated slightly early according to OPKs, on cd12. On cd28 and 29, I had some very, very light spotting.

I’m now on cd33 and have been testing using a frer with fmu since cd28. Every test has been bfn. This morning I had run out of frer and had to use a clear blue I had knocking around. I hate clear blue as I find them really difficult to read. I thought I could see a faint line but not enough to convince me. Since I have started bleeding but it’s not normal bleeding at all. It’s pink and watery and only there when I wipe. I have a pad on and there’s nothing on the pad at all so far. I have some cramping on and off.

I know no one can really tell me for sure but my brain is shouting what the heck is going on?! Surely if the opk was right I would have a clear test result by now if it were going to be positive? What is this weird light pink bleeding? I have never, ever had a period like this.

Any thoughts? Thank you X

Did you continue using opk’s after CD12? Is it possible that you got an LH surge but then didn’t ovulate and you could have had a second surge later with successful ovulation?
If you ovulated later the bleeding you’re having now could be implantation bleeding perhaps?
Also, if you had ovulated on CD12 but hadn’t gotten pregnant, I would have thought you’d have had AF by now.
Sorry, I might have just given more questions that actual answers there 🙈

A few possibilities:

  1. you ovulated CD 12, got pregnant, and are unfortunately experiencing a chemical pregnancy/ v early miscarriage. Giving faint lines and odd bleeding.

  2. your body tried to ovulate but didnt on CD12, you then ovulated later than you thought (as OPKs cant confirm) and are experiencing implantation bleeding (not necess a one off event) then will start to test positive

  3. your body tried to ovulate but didnt on CD12, you then ovulated later than you thought (as OPKs cant confirm) and conceived but now are unfortunately experiencing a chemical pregnancy/ v early miscarriage.

Unfortunately hard to tell and all you can do is wait and see how tests and bleeding change

@ActonBell I feel your pain!!!
I'm having a similar issue to you at the moment!
My cycles are between 28-35 days. I don't use OPK's but do my BBT daily.
According to my temp increase I ovulated early at CD10 which ties in with my CM this month. CD14 looked more promising for ovulation and was more likely in general but none of my signs fitted with it.
I've had no symptoms of AF arriving at all so I tested on CD29, negative.
Today I have started bleeding but like you its a really light pink, barely there and still no AF symptoms.
I have absolutely no idea what is going on either!
I can't offer any advice but youre not alone!!

Also adding no advice but sympathy!

I'm pretty sure I ovulated cd17, normally a 26/28 day cycle. I had light pink 'spotting' only on wiping from cd 23 to 26 (with 2 instances of darker 'oh, that's definitely an early period starting then!' wipes over a couple of days), which rather than progressing to my period as has happened in the past, seems to have stopped now on cd28.

I've had none of the usual pmt symptoms until the last couple of days, at the point they would normally have stopped.

TTC is a bugger. Flowers

Thanks all. Looked at my test from this morning again and I do think there was a line. But the bleeding has picked up now - still a bit weird and pink but getting heavier. So maybe a chemical. I think I also maybe had one in June. I had two faint lines on tests on cd28 and 29 then started bleeding on cd32. Bloody hell I’m getting depressed with all this. I know I’m so, so lucky to have my gorgeous dc1. At the same time I’m starting to think a second child is never going to happen for us, that my little one will never have a sibling.

@Thedaydreambelievers I find lists really helpful and clarifying so thank you for that! That really helped with the uncertainty.

I'm so sorry, this sounds grim.

Fingers crossed that this is just a strange period, but please monitor yourself over the next couple of weeks and keep on testing. There is a very, very small chance this could be an ectopic.

This sounds exactly like me a few weeks before my first ectopic ruptured a fallopian tube at 6 weeks. Unlike you, I didn't question the strange 'period'. Ectopics don't always produce the same hormone levels so they can play havoc with early pregnancy test. You're probably fine but worth reminding yourself of the symptoms anyway (check out the NHS and ectopic pregnancy trust).

ActonBell · 28/10/2020 20:21

@Surviving2020- thank you. I will definitely bear this in mind, look up the guidance and keep an eye on things. I’m really sorry to hear about your ectopic. Flowers

I'm sorry @ActonBell and I hope it happens for you soon. So much worse when our bodies mess us around a bit!
