Ewcm?! Confused

Heya,

Any EWCM experts out there?!

I have had ewcm for 5 days (cd12-16), I thought I ovulated around cd13 (I get pains) but why the extra days of ewcm? Can you still get it after ovulation? Have I ovulated later this month? Have I even ovulated at all?!

No answer really, but just hopping on here in case anyone else has an answer! I Googled this a lot this month too, since I had 7 days of proper clear EWCM this month, when I'm normally 4 days, and it was quite late in the month for me, so it seems more likely it was earlier in the 7 day stetch that I ovulated. Google definitely says that the last day of proper clear EWCM is the day you ovulate though. I guess it could take maybe a day to finish 'coming out'?
Do you temp/OPKs? Think I might start as it would be interesting to know which day is ov day for sure, and whether the EWCM is still coming for days after O.

Interested in this also! I always get loads of ewcm 3dpo?!!

Would also love to know this! I got my OPK peak on Sunday and then EWCM last night - Tuesday - (2DPO according to PreMom app). OPKs have dropped to be really low since my peak so no other sign I'm ovulating apart from EWCM.

@RBCoxie that's the same as me, opks go back negative, after two days of postive then on 3dpo loads of ewcm but no other ovulation signs....

@AnxiousAnnie86 yes! That's exactly what's happened to me this month. I'm going to take another OPK test in a couple of hours (always get the best results at 5pm) but I think it's going to be low again. Does this happen to you every month?

It's happened the last two but much more noticeably this month, I deffo ovulated 3 days prior as I temp x

@AnxiousAnnie86 oh interesting! I have absolutely no idea why it happens. I can't find anything online either apart from a potential second estrogen surge 😩

@HerringGull I don't temp and don't use opks anymore. Used them for months so I know when I should roughly be ovulating. It is very unusual for me to have 5days of ewcm, I usually have two!

@RBCoxie what does it mean if there has been a second estrogen surge?

@ButterflyJoy8754 been doing some googling and it says that days after ovulation estrogen naturally increases which can cause 1-2 days of EWCM. I've found a graph which shows it quite well (grey line is estrogen)...so it's not a proper peak like we would see on OPKs but it's a slight increase which can produce EWCM.
