Clear Blue Digital vs Ovulation Sticks

I am starting my TTC journey (month 2 so far) and i’ve opted for Clear Blue 4 or more fertile days digital.

But I just wanted some opinions on what people think works for them or is ‘better’ between the CB digital and tracking ovulation sticks via an app?

Any opinions welcomed! This is all new to me Smile Thank you!

Hi @2020TTC

I used both when I started, like you I wasn’t sure which would work best for me. It takes a little while to learn how they work and to get to know your patterns.

Clear blue measures rises in Estrogen as well as LH...which is useful to know things are on the rise and you will soon ovulate. So you have warning as it’s best to DTD before you ovulate and have the sperm editing for the egg.

I found clear blue useful for that forewarning, but it didn’t show me the peak as clearly I think. Just seeing a flashy face I found pointless and I didn’t actually know when the peak was. With the strips the darker the colour the higher the hormone and the closer the peak. If you use and app with the strips it shows you the percentage marks it low, high, peak. So the journey of the rise is clearer.

I now just use the OPK strips. I would probably use both if clear blue wasn’t so expensive...but don’t want to fork out that much every month!You can buy a big box of opks for quite cheap on amazon. I use easy@home Brand and femometer app.

Also don’t wait to see your peak to DTD... good to do it every 2-3 days around ovulation time so there is always sperm waiting for the egg when it decides to pop!

Good luck on your TTC journey!

@Bouncytree

Thank you for your reply! I'm only on my second month, first was just using my app which I've always tracked periods on, and this month (and next) I have CB digital which is the 4 fertile days one.

I might look at getting the ovulation sticks after this as you're right, it would be very costly if I carried on with the digital (but lets hope I don't need either!)

Good luck on your journey too!
