False positive?! - (diazepam?!)

Hello Smile

Ok so I felt a bit iffy today and thought id do a cheapie pregnancy test (only 10dpo) I'm not TTC just tracking via flo. I got a what I think is a positive on a cheapie which came up within a minute, I then re-tested about 1hr 30 later and got a negative. Now I know it's super early to get a result at this stage but I've always heard that there isn't really such a thing as a false positive? I've attached the two tests in question

I've since been told diazepam can give a false positive not sure how true this is and common but I've been taking it on and off for a few weeks. Has anyone had a false positive and it been caused by diazepam? I'd never heard of it before and now I'm way confused and if that was the case wouldn't it show in the clearblue ConfusedShock

I have an appointment on Friday with the docs just wondering in the mean time as my brain is going into overdrive.

Thanks xx

I don’t know except to say I’m afraid you’re right about the diazepam.

Maybe find out how long it stays in your system for and then retest (google the ‘half life’ of Valium maybe).

Thanks for the link funnily when I googled I didn't see the nhs site!

What a weird side effect.. I'll probably just retest in a couple of days if no AF

Thanks again

Two things:

  1. 10 DPO is generally too early for a digital test in my experience. They tend to be best after AF is due.
  2. Once you open a test the result is invalid because they aren't meant to be opened and it affects how they dry.

So certainly you aren't ruled out just yet! Test again once you have more information about the diazepam effects.

As a PP said, don't read too much into the negative digital test - they aren't very sensitive so if you are only 10dpo, it's not a surprise it is negative, even if you are pregnant.

Best of luck, I hope you get the outcome you want!

Thanks for the replies, yeah I thought the same myself, and if was other way round I'd.be more than likely saying the same as you to me haha!

Well only time will tell I suppose.
