TTC during a pandemic

I'm currently trying to convince DH to try for DC3. Plan would be for baby to be born October 2021 onwards but I'm so undecided in case we're still under restrictions. Obviously we hope there will be a vaccine by then but can't be sure.

Is any one else in this dilemma? Or have people decided sod it, I'm just going to go for it?

We decided to go for it and I'm now 18 weeks pregnant. I weighed up a few things before we decided to try to conceive, including the fact I'm in stable employment and can work from home throughout my pregnancy. The circumstances are not ideal but I feel able to keep myself as safe as possible.

We are just going for it, our wedding has been moved 4 times now and I'm not letting Covid muck up my life anymore!

beckyBP · 15/10/2020 16:32

we're the same as you @lilacflower12 our wedding has been postponed twice and we just aren't prepared to postpone TTC so we're going for it!

Samjane93 · 15/10/2020 17:45

Same @lilacflower12 and @beckyBP our wedding has actually been brought forward to January 2021 rather than May 2021 so it's not an awkward time for us to TTC now.. it's actually worked out well Grin

I think if you're ready then why waste time? Life goes on :)

Covid hasn’t been shown to affect pregnant women or babies badly so I’m not sure why you would wait?

cuddlypenguins · 15/10/2020 18:22

We've just decided to go for it! The restrictions won't last forever. Life has been put on hold enough this year and we don't want a large age gap between DS and a sibling

The reason I'd wait isn't so much the effect of the virus but the worry of having a newborn, a 5 year old and a 3 year old and not being able to have a support network and family, friends and baby groups.

We're going for it, we started TTC in January and debated stopping in March but decided we didn't know how long it would take or how long restrictions would be for so we'd keep going. It's now been 10 months and still no sign but at least I'm not thinking 'what if'.

BergamotMouse · 15/10/2020 19:20

Thank you all, I do agree that we can't put our lives on hold indefinitely. Sorry to hear about all the postponed weddings.

I feel the same OP. Think we might go for it from Dec/Jan time. Dd is 2 and ideally don't want a very big gap but also thinking of how to manage newborn with potentially less help with toddler/noplaygroups etc. Also don't want to be too anxious while pregnant.

I'm 37 at the weekend and this would be our first, so sod it.
