Experience of having a laparoscopy?

Just that really. I've got to have one on Monday to remove an ovarian cyst with endometriosis, and I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same thing done or similar done? Apparently I'll be under for about an hour and a half and I'm just curious to know what the recovery time is like. I have been warned that I may also lose the ovary on that side but they're going to try and save it if they can.
I'm meant to start jury service the following week so I don't know whether I'll be able to or not!

I had an emergency laparoscopic appendectomy in 2015. The worst was the cramps from the gas they used to inflate the abdominal cavity and that wasn't that bad!
I went home the next day, the OP was done at 2000.
Was fine after a couple of days but it's abdominal surgery and everyone is different.
Best of luck for a smooth procedure and study recovery xx

I had one a couple of years ago to diagnose Endo. I was kept overnight so be prepared for that.
The gas pain is the worst bit of the hospital stay I thought, so be aware of that.

They actually couldn't do anything at mine because it turns out I also had a frozen pelvis as my Endo/scar tissue is so extensive. But anyway, I was allowed home early the next day when my drain was taken out. Lots of people go back to work after a couple days but I needed three weeks in the end because I work 12hr nursing home shifts so no such thing as light duties, but jury service you're mostly sat down so might be ok for that.

Thank you ladies for your comments. I'll prepare myself for the gas pain afterwards! I don't mind if I have a hospital stay, I have a 3 year old DD who I imagine will probably try and jump all over me so a night in hospital wouldn't be a bad thing 😂
