Hi everybody, im on cycle 13 of ttc baby number 1, iv had day 3 bloods and partner has had SA and all tests came back satisfactory. My question is what do i do now? Originally i was told by the drs we wouldnt get any help till 2 years so do we just keep DTD and hoping for the best every month? Has anybody succesfully fell pregnant naturally after 12 months trying?

It took us 20 months to conceive DS. Similarly, we had the tests and all looked okay, then it happened naturally for us. Things we did differently in the last 6 months of TTC...

I left a very stressful / busy job and started a less stressful one.

DH lost half a stone in weight.

We both cut right back on alcohol and caffeine.

I don't know if any of those things made the difference or if we just got lucky. Very best of luck!

Hi OP, not sure if it is different in different areas? I went the GP after a year of TTC and was referred to the fertility clinic following all the initial blood and SA tests. We didn’t have fertility treatment until after 2 years had passed but there was quite a bit of investigation they wanted to do initially anyway so that took a good few months.

I’d had all my tests and we were waiting for DHs SA when we finally conceived now on cycle 14. You never know so keep on trying x

Im in scotland so the only test i was offered was tests to check my hormones and thyroid which all came back satisfactory, apart from that i was told we couldnt be referred to fertility clinic till 18months ttc. I guess i just feel abit deflated because i dont know if there is anything wrong with me or if its just taking its time

I actually just had an ectopic but it would have been conceived on month 13. I read it all starts with an egg and cut out sugar, caffeine, processed foods, reduced toxins from my make up and stopped using plastic where I could (utensils, microwave rice packs, no plastic Tupperwares etc.) and also introduced new supplements. I did this since early June.

Good luck, I know it’s hard to stay positive

@Chica1990 im so sorry to hear, it really is hard to stay positive! Its all i used to think about, as time has went on iv found that i dont think about it and i just try and go with the flow. If will happen when it happens i suppose x

Don’t give up hope. A high proportion of couples who haven’t conceived in the first year of trying do so in the second year. It’s frustrating when others around you fall pregnant very quickly but it doesn’t mean you won’t get there soon.

xoxochellexoxo · 09/10/2020 09:20

@louloulemons Oh really? I wasnt aware thanks so much for sharing that its gave me some hope, my OH has a DD already so will be our first together and i feel really sad sometimes that i wont get to be a mummy and give him another.

I haven't got a story about myself, but I do have a work colleague who was struggling to conceive with his wife, they tried for years and eventually were moved on to a fertility clinic. I think their first IVF failed and then in the gap, they fell pregnant naturally and now have a little girl.
Not sure what had changed. I know he had to quit smoking and neither of them drank any caffeine, but they'd started doing that a year before they fell pregnant.
Either way, miracles happen. I hope yours does soon. 💗

The options you get vary with age and where you live.

My doctor said that most couples conceive within two years when having sex every two or three days. She said to just be generally healthy and take folic acid pretty much.

I think the most important thing is to try and relax about it. Personally I'm still waiting and still trying to relax 😂
